Overview Physicians are medical professionals who diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries. They provide preventive care, prescribe medications, and perform medical procedures. Physicians may specialize in a particular area of medicine, such as family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, or surgery. Detailed Job Description Physicians are responsible for diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries. They perform physical examinations, order and interpret laboratory tests, diagnose illnesses, and develop treatment plans. Physicians also provide preventive care, such as immunizations and health screenings. They may also perform medical procedures, such as setting fractures, delivering babies, and performing surgery. Physicians may specialize in a particular area of medicine, such as family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, or surgery. They may also specialize in a particular area of the body, such as the heart, lungs, or brain. Job Skills Required Physicians must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
