Land Consultant Jobs in Alberta

Have related post-secondary education in a land-related field (considered an asset).

Have a minimum of 3 years of continuous field experience in surface land acquisition.

Build effective relationships with landowners and occupants, keeping them informed about any potential activities on or near their land.

Negotiate and liaise with a broad range of stakeholders to secure land rights for electrical distribution and transmission facilities.

Lead consultations for the routing and site selection of transmission and distribution facilities.

Execute property acquisitions for essential sites including substations, radio towers, storage facilities, and offices.

Analyze, manage and steward contracts, as needed (e.g., acreage and risk management, and compliance)

Provide litigation support Requirements and Qualifications:

Knowledge and experience with title, court house, alignment sheets, easement and acquisition documents is a must

Proficient in commercial negotiation, influence, and internal and external relationship management.

Knowledge of land development process, including conceptual / preliminary engineering, detailed design, construction, warranty / closeout

Experience with procurement of construction and consulting services including creation of tender documents, scope of work and evaluation criteria

Knowledge of design and construction standards, specifications, bylaws and legislation as they relate to land development

Skill in producing project budgets, proformas and cost estimates at various stages of a project

Lead and/or support a diverse project team of consultants, contractors, and stakeholders, both internal and external, to achieve project objectives

Prepare proformas for land development projects accounting for all costs, revenues and recoveries and noting all assumptions

Analyze, manage and steward contracts, as needed (e.g., acreage and risk management, and compliance).

Manage and sustain external relationships relevant to own portfolio (e.g., government officials, land owners, service providers and partners)

Negotiate and manage claim/dispute mitigation and resolution.

Coordinate and/or determine land ownership, evaluate risks, and cure title defects. Manage and coordinate contract personnel (field & in-house).

Develop, negotiate and execute new commercial agreements (e.g., leases and right-of-ways), obtaining all functional alignment, as required.

Develop, prioritize and recommend commercial concepts/structures for the acquisition and/or monetization of a business opportunity for new and existing assets.

Bachelor of Commerce degree or equivalent experience.

Minimum 5 to 10 years surface A&D experience within the energy sector

Strong extensive working knowledge of oil and gas in British Columbia, Alberta & Saskatchewan

Strong analytical, interpretive, attention to detail, and organization skills

Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required

On all acquisition and disposition transactions - review and provide analysis of surface files for data integrity
