3-5 years’ work experience in Indigenous Community Relations, or a related field

Knowledge and direct experience in engaging with Indigenous communities, including Indigenous history and rights, cultural protocols and norms, and Indigenous politics.

Knowledge of or experience in project development and community engagement.

A minimum of 2+ years relevant work experience in Indigenous and/or stakeholder engagement or related experience in resource development.

Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on working well within multi-disciplinary teams.

Organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a constantly changing environment.

Demonstrates excellent organization and time-management skills

Strong conflict resolution skills, ability to manage difficult situations and respond effectively to client complaints and clients in crisis

Ensuring seamless client service through clear and accurate communications, scheduling, documentation, data entry and more

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a related discipline or demonstration of a combination of relevant experience and training

Experience working with individuals with complex barriers and broad range of cultural backgrounds an asset

Strong understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles

4 to 6 years of relevant public accounting experience

Experience working with First Nations Communities is considered an asset

Lead client facing engagement teams to complete audits, compliance tax engagements, budgeting, internal controls and financial/accounting transactions

Complete regulatory requirements in consultation / engagement and document effectively the outcomes.

Experience in and understanding of a large, public company with operations in multiple regions.

Proven written and verbal communication, presentation and interpersonal abilities including consultation, negotiation, facilitation, risk communication and conflict resolution.

University degree from a related post-secondary program.

Preference may be given to a candidate who identifies as Indigenous (First Nations, Metis, Inuit).

Works with highly confidential, strategic information.

Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.

Experience: 0-1 years of relevant work experience required or equivalent experience through education.

Education: High school Diploma (or equivalent) is required.

Previous experience in a Petroleum Refinery field would be a strong asset.

Organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Sufficient verbal and written communication skills.

An equivalent combination of relevant education/experience may be considered

Develop relationships with Indigenous communities and discuss their needs and how CLBC can provide support

Identify Indigenous adults now living outside their home community and find ways to reconnect them

Increase the cultural competency of CLBC staff to work with Indigenous people

Have a familiarity with the structure and operation of developmental disability supports and services in BC

Support clients in finding other community resources and government benefits needed

Knowledge of the local labour market, community resources and government programs

Knowledge of job search techniques, career development, and issues relating to unemployment
