Job Summary


The Transaction Analyst is a key member of the DEB Canada Back Office Operations team focused on inbound and outbound transactions within the systems and with the utility. Their primary role will be to set up and maintain the CIS and ensure data is accurately entered in these systems. The successful candidate will build working relationships with other operational teams and business units as well as various Canadian Utilities. This individual must be able to learn other roles within the team and assist where needed.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities


  • Confirm pricing for both Gas and Power contracts to ensure valid before commodity is purchased
  • Setup and maintain CIS & applicable billing systems with customer updates and issue transactions based on customer needs
  • Effectively communicate to management and other business units any potential issues or gaps as they arise
  • Monitor and report on all transactional activity within the Canadian and vendor platforms
  • Work with off-shore team to ensure processes are being completed on a daily basis
  • Maintain a Transactional dashboard/queue and identify any trends or areas of improvement for automation
  • Aid in researching transactional exceptions
  • Support the creation and updating of desktop procedures / job aides, and training materials
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Monitor and report on incoming and outgoing market transactions at a holistic level
  • Assist with market rule documentation; research, documentation and follow up on outstanding questions with utility
  • Process and book incoming contracts within SLA and avoid any margin erosion due to market shift


Working Conditions


  • Sensory attention: Continual need to give concentrated attention where multiple stimuli are changing quickly and where 2 or more senses – hearing, seeing, touching, and tasking – must be used in coordination
  • Travel minimal
  • Mental stress: Continuous occurrence of strong demand for results and multiple simultaneous demands requiring decisions
  • Hybrid office environment


Skills & Qualifications


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Visio, Excel); knowledge of Salesforce a plus
  • Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret data, identify trends and translate that into application and operational changes
  • 1-3 years of job experience in a relative field
  • Ability to successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Team player
  • Good knowledge of deregulated electricity markets a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or equivalent experience required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, including teammates, managers and utilities.
  • Interaction with cross-functional groups including Operations, IT and Finance
