FLSmidth is seeking to engage an experienced Technical Services Engineer to safely carry out the installation, commissioning, maintenance and operational support for automated laboratories and laboratory equipment supplied by FLSmidth. The role involves a combination of on-site and off-site operational support with commissioning, general maintenance, and servicing and repairs of our range of Laboratory equipment. The Technical Services Engineer will travel about 50% of their time to locations across North America.

The FLSmidth Sampling, Preparation and Analysis department offers best-in-class mechanical sampling equipment, automated and manual laboratory solutions, online elemental analyzers, and advanced quality control software that are all designed to deliver reliable results.

Your Responsibilities

• Always foster a high level of customer service and proactively build the client relationship.
• Provide ongoing systems training to customers to equip staff with the knowledge, practical skills, and motivation to carry out work-related tasks.
• Install, commission, and maintain laboratory equipment; maintain related records
• Support customers both remotely and onsite for scheduled and emergency equipment needs
• Operation, calibration, fault finding of automated process control and laboratory equipment.
• Identify maintenance requirements; assess the urgency of the issue, recognize common types of maintenance requirements, and run basic checks according to workplace procedures to confirm the need for and type of maintenance support required
• Comply with Health Safety and Environment policies (both FLSmidth and Client site specific requirements).

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering or similar; equivalent experience will also be considered
• Ability to build strong customer relationships and effectively troubleshoot/resolve problems
• 5+ years of experience working with automation and controls; knowledge of different types of inductive proximity switches, photocells, level sensors, flow sensors, pressure switches, vacuum switches, and solenoid valves
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
• PLC or electrical systems knowledge a plus
• Valid driver’s license required; prior experience in a traveling role desired
