Role Description:


Reporting to Sr. Technical Project Manager, Technology and Analytics, the incumbent will have the opportunity to lead/run various unique Retail and Merchandising projects and enterprise-wide data analytical initiatives.


Role Summary:


  • Will ensure the approved business case is achieved and serve as key liaisons / contact point for the projects/initiatives which they are coordinating under the leadership of a Senior Technical Project Manager and Sr. Director.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of assigned projects and monitors progress to ensure they are accomplished within approved timeframe, scope, budget, at a quality level. Additionally, the solutions delivered must be sustainable and supportable.
  • Provides/coordinates resource planning and time management with regards to development or modification to a platform/application /process/reports related to Retail and Merchandising products


Representative Duties & Accountabilities


  • Coordinate with diverse technical teams to plan, coordinate and track progress of the initiative while removing impediments. Run costs plans, resource demand and planning across various technical teams
  • Act as a facilitator between technical teams and business to ensure business objectives are met; facilitate coordination between the organization and vendors for contracts and agreements
  • Track, monitor, and communicate project progress against the plan and rolls up the summary to the Senior Technical Project Manager for upstream communication to relevant collaborators and Steering Committee
  • Lead the delivery of a group of highly technical projects/initiatives in line with the company's vision statement and departmental policies, principles, and goals
  • Maintain and prioritize backlogs and technical debt across complementary teams; handle changing priorities with agility and ensure the delivery in time. Negotiates with business partners regarding project plans for applications / technology products including planning, scheduling, resourcing, risk assessment, cost/benefit analysis and milestone establishment
  • Provide formalized work direction and leadership to assigned individuals/teams (i.e., vendors, data and solution engineering, Data Science, Data Elevation, Data Visualization, other technical specialists, and project leaders)


Knowledge, Skills & Expertise


  • Current knowledge and experience with regards Retail and Merchandising domain, Reporting, Data Science. SAP and Cloud platforms would be an asset
  • Track record of building strong partnerships with internal and external partners, business and technical team members and vendors. Strong communication and presentation skills (verbal and written); experience making pitches with non-Loblaw Technology professionals and assessing needs, End to end project facilitation expertise
  • Use of formalized methodology and project tracking tools, forecasting, planning, financial controls, budgeting, risk management and issue management. Good understanding of process management and organizational change will complement this role!
  • Experience working in a matrix environment with virtual teams, implement servant leadership, handle conflicts with specialized social skills to resolve situations with colleagues where they may be some level of conflict, stress, or uncertainty. Ability to handle ambiguity, uncertainty and changing priorities
  • Shown experience with Project Management, agile tools (JIRA, Confluence), scrum management, facilitating daily standups; strong understanding of project management tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, MS Visio). Strong understanding of project management methodology/ standard processes and Agile certification is an asset
