Title: Assistant Technical Project Manager- Electronics

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (on-site)

Type: Full Time Permanent

Key points/ Highlights:

Required :

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience designing and debugging analog and digital electronic circuits.
  • 4+ years of product design experience in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems development.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and the desire to take ownership and be accountable.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage a wide range of tasks. Experience in the telecom, home audio or video would be a plus.



Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of firmware and app development processes and tools.
  • Experience with audio/video test equipment (e.g., Audio Precision).
  • Certification in Project Management (PMP) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of designing for reliability.
  • Experience working with external vendors, especially overseas.
  • Project Management Experience in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Knowledge of audio electronics hardware.
  • Familiarity with audio test methods and performance specifications.



Job description:

Our esteemed client, based in Ottawa, is seeking a talented and motivated Assistant Technical Project Manager to join our team. This role involves managing our AVR development program, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of in-house developers and an overseas ODM. This position provides a unique opportunity to work directly under a senior Technical Project Manager and gain firsthand experience managing complex development programs


The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical background, preferably in electronics engineering and embedded software development, and experience managing multidisciplinary virtual teams. Experience in the consumer electronics industry, particularly with home audio or video, would be a significant plus.



Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the documentation of technical and functional product requirements. Assist in maintaining a record of all project documentation.
  • Assist in managing the entire AVR development program from concept to mass production.
  • Help in ensuring the program complies with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Work closely with the technical project manager to coordinate activities of shared internal resources based on project schedules and priorities.
  • Review and provide feedback on design documentation, test plans, and engineering change orders. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, firmware, software, and test engineering teams, for seamless integration of components.
  • Assist in identifying and mitigating program risks, including schedule, cost, and technical risks. Participate in product launch activities and support product ramp-up to mass production.
  • Monitor ECN changes after production. Provide ongoing technical support as required.
  • Help coordinate and assist with prototype functional and performance verification in a lab environment (hands on).
  • Support the coordination between the company and the external ODM, ensuring deliverables are met on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
