Reporting to the Shift Manager, the Team Lead is an integral member of the Rocky Mountaineer Operations and Mechanical team. The Team Lead will be responsible for executing the operating plan, managing front line trades teams, and assisting in project management for capital programs.
This position is deemed Safety Critical and pre-employment testing will be required. Final candidates must successfully pass a safety critical medical exam and will undergo medical monitoring as prescribed by Transport Canada. This position requires you to periodically access an active railway area where impaired performance could result in a significant incident affecting the health and safety of team members, guests, the public, property, or the environment.
Key Areas of Accountability
• Develop and maintain meaningful relationships among team members, internal partners, external suppliers, and contractors
• Manage workforce resources effectively
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
• Conduct safety and performance audits
• Execute maintenance and capital project deliverables to ensure asset reliability
• Organize, facilitate, and document maintenance, provisioning, and servicing work orders
• Organize, facilitate, and document training for team members
• Execute investigations and corrective action plans for workplace incidents
• Develop, execute, and manage SOPs
• Conduct performance reviews and assist in career development plans for team members
Safety
• Comply with Canadian Railway Operating Rules (CROR), General Operating Instructions (GOI), Federal Railroad Association (FRA), and all other safety policies, procedures, and rules
• Execute incident reporting processes ensuring the safety and security of team members, guests, and contractors are met in compliance with the Safety Management System (SMS)
• Perform safety and performance audits on employees and contractors
• Meet or exceed safety and security deliverables
• Maintain basic first aid certification provided by Rocky Mountaineer
Operations
• Execute the RM Maintenance Vision and Operating Plan
• Lead operations and mechanical requirements in the Operations Centre
• Ensure safe movement of all RM equipment
• Support supply chain initiatives throughout the RM network
• Build and foster relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, and vendors
• Support operational and equipment availability requirements
• Willingness to train for and perform switching duties
Mechanical
• Successfully execute the RM Maintenance Vision
• Willingness to train for equipment operating skills including: forklifts, boom lifts, jacks, drop tables, etc.
• Ability to support the mechanical team when troubleshooting equipment (ex. reading, understanding and interpreting schematics and manuals)
• Responsible for the safety and performance of all mechanical team members, contractors, and equipment throughout the RM network
• Support capital and operational project management processes
• Ensure training records for RM team members are up to date
Qualifications
Education, Certification, Licenses
• Relevant mechanical or operational post-secondary education is an asset
• High School Diploma
• First Aid Level 1 Certification is an asset
• Valid Driver’s License
• Qualification and/or proven knowledge in safe heavy equipment operations such as forklifts, cranes, etc.
• Previous qualification under CROR Operating Rules is an asset
Experience/Skills
• 3+ years of managing employees is an asset
• Attention to detail with a desire to maintain brand standards
• Project management/coordination experience an asset
• Troubleshooting ability across a variety of different mechanical and electrical systems is an asset
• Effective time management and problem-solving skills
• Railroad experience is an asset
• Able to take personal accountability
• Proficient in MS Office and computer savvy
• Good communication and leadership skills
• Able to work cross-functionally
Work Environment
• Will require occasional travel
• Physical demands may require lifting to 80 lbs. on occasion
• Rail industrial site that requires walking and sitting throughout the day
• 24/7 operation that may require varied work schedules
• Indoor/outdoor working environment

• Pay range: $82000 - $92000
• Eligible for Rocky Mountaineer’s Short Term Incentive Plan (STIP) up to 10%
