The Opportunity
Under the general guidance and direction of the Supervisor of Talent Acquisition, the Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for recruitment, selection, and employee movement activities within the Human Resources Department of the City of Barrie. Specifically, this position facilitates, leads, and administers the full recruitment process for vacant positions within an assigned portfolio. Additionally, this position provides interpretation, advice, guidance, and instruction to management, employees, and candidates regarding recruitment, selection, and employee movement related matters, including the application of collective agreements and corporate policies and procedures; and conducts research for collective bargaining negotiations related to recruitment, selection and employee movement. Lastly, this position provides input to and makes recommendations for the development or maintenance of recruitment, selection and employee movement related corporate policies, procedures, systems, standards, strategies, guidelines, and programs. Overall, this position plays an integral role in applying fair and equitable recruitment practices to source and attract quality, talented individuals for vacant City positions in order to fulfill the overall operational needs of the City.

Education (degree/diploma/certifications)
- Three (3) year University Degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Human Resources Management
OR
- Three (3) year University Degree in a related discipline; and One (1) year College Certificate in Human Resources Management
- Eligibility for and willingness to obtain a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) Designation from the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA)
Experience
- Three (3) years of experience performing duties related to the above mentioned major responsibilities within a unionized work environment
