Position Summary and Responsibilities
The selected candidate will work within in integrated R&D engineering team responsible for supporting the design, development and implementation of a wide range of high value, high-tech 3D imaging and surveying (lidar) products. This includes involvement in the full product life cycle of these electronic and opto-mechanical systems from concept, design, analysis and testing to production implementation and customer support.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review and approve all deliverable technical data including analysis, technical notes, drawings, specifications and other related technical project data
- Develop and maintain system and subsystem level budgets and error analysis
- Conduct technical reviews as appropriate
- Develop and maintain material and parts usage lists and ensure all parts and materials conform to system requirements
- Review and approve test plans, procedures and reports to ensure all deliverables conform to customer requirements
- Ensure conformance to all Optech and customer quality assurance requirements such as: safety, reliability, maintainability, and failure modes and effects analysis
- Development of verification plans, verification matrix and approve test plans and procedures
- Manage the design and verification process for assigned projects
- Review customer requirements, specifications, statement of work and related data to determine engineering requirements
- Development of vendor specifications
- Develop system and subsystem level interface control documents
- Support program design reviews, project status reviews, planning activities
- Develop system level architecture and block diagrams
- Develop system & subsystem specifications ensuring traceability to customer requirements
Qualifications:
- Customer oriented, committed, team player, professional attitude, highly motivated, initiative, goal and action oriented, ability to work under pressure
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Bachelor Degree in Electrical or Systems Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 3-5years of experience with opto-electronic systems
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact within a highly diverse, multidisciplinary team
- Coding/prototyping/simulation using MATLAB, Python or equivalent
- Ability to analyze and solve problems, work with minimal supervision
Highly Desirable Attributes:
- Capable in multiple disciplines– has demonstrated a working knowledge of more than one engineering discipline such as optical, mechanical, electronics, software, etc.
- Self-starter - has demonstrated initiative in achieving goals, performs with minimum of supervision
- Leadership qualities, excel in team situations - interacting with engineers of varied disciplines, coordinate contributions and organize results into system design
- Awareness of various different agency standards– RTCA/DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, IEC, etc.
- Experience with systems engineering process - requirements development, concept of operations, validation and verification, concept definition
