Reporting to the Manager, IP Network Design, the IP Network Designer will provide strong technical leadership in the testing, planning, design and implementation of TERAGO's national IP network solutions and services.
Responsibilities:
- Provides network project scope, drawing, configuration, MOP, and other related documents; helps drive the execution of engineering initiatives, works collaboratively with project managers and customers on designs and services.
- Testing and standardization of new network equipment or services, customized solutions and design validation and configurations.
- Participates in new product/service introductions and provide recommendations.
- Create methods of procedure to implement MPLS routers, Ethernet switches, Customer designs to meet network project or service requirements.
- Monitors changes in technology and make assessments on TERAGO's network and planning.
- Third level Support and implementation support to NOC for network and customer design implementations.
- Develops detailed network designs in the following areas LAN/WAN, SD-WAN in a MPLS Service Provider Network.
Education & Experience:
- Experience with wireless, Data services and cloud-based technologies.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting DDoS mitigation systems like Radware and Arbor.
- Experience in a technical leadership role demonstrating the ability to train and share knowledge with other staff members.
- Working knowledge HPOV, PHP and MRTG.
- Good to have Network-oriented automation and tool familiarity (Python tools, ANSIBLE, NETCONF/YANG models, Netconf/RESTconf, ONAP, Openstack. JSON, DEVOPS
- Experienced working with (Cisco IOS /IOSXE/IOS-XR) and configuration associated with Layer 2 switching (VLANs, STP, LACP), Network Security (ACLs, NATs, IPsec VPNs, DHCP), VOIP services and configurations
- Experience using and testing UCPE devices, service chaining, installation of provider VM for services, provisioning.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of current Data Networking systems, processes, and procedures.
- Proven experience planning and deploying an IP carrier grade infrastructure.
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Applied Science or Engineering
- Proficiency required in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote & Visio.
- Troubleshooting skills in lab and production networks.
- 1-3 years of experience configuring and supporting WAN/OSPF/BGP /MPLS services in an enterprise or a Service Provider environment
- Basic knowledge of Linux operating system
- Experience with SD-WAN solution designs and implementation based on Velo Cloud or other alternate providers Viptela.
- Ideal to have Wireless experience and understanding of 5G, Private 5G networks solutions and design and implementation.
- Working with third party fiber DSL/VDSL / Cable /FTTN solution and deployments.
- Demonstrated experience with tier 2/3 support for large networks.
- Experienced in SNMP monitoring, NetFlow and Syslog to support and monitor the network
- Advanced knowledge & understanding of service provider IP/MPLS network standards and technologies including but not limited to: BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPLS, EOMPLS, LDP and IP protocols such as SNMP, SMTP, HTTP, 802.1Q, and Spanning Tree.
- Solid knowledge of internet/data communication technologies such as IP protocol, web hosting, e-mail, DNS, and Solaris/UNIX.
- Equipment and planning engineering experience
- Preferred: CCNP/CCIE/JNCIP/JNCIE
- Experience configuring H-QoS, Policing, and Shaping.
- Experience dealing directly with customers in a professional technical support environment.
- Advanced knowledge of Cisco routers (NCS, ME3600/3800 series, ASR9K, ASR1K), switches (3750, WS-3850 C9300, NEXUS 7K, 9K series), access servers and commands.
- Strong knowledge of telecom and networking technologies such as MEF 2.0, WAVE Service (Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3), Ethernet Service

- Extensive knowledge of telecommunications and IP Network technology trends.
- Proven to be results-oriented with a focus on delivering.
- Excellent analytical and project management, reporting, organization, and documentation skills.
- Strong facilitation, presentation, and troubleshooting skills.
- Team player - able to learn from and share knowledge with others.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
