Our Team:


Our Sudbury Operations have been in existence for more than 100 years. With five mines, a mill, a smelter, a refinery and nearly 4,000 employees it is also one of the largest integrated mining complexes in the world.


The Port Colborne Refinery was also commissioned 100 years ago on the shore of Lake Erie. Raw materials and finished products from Vale’s Sudbury and Newfoundland and Labrador operations are transported to Port Colborne for processing.


The Opportunity


We are currently seeking a Procurement Supervisor to join our Procurement Operations Team in Sudbury. This is a permanent position.


The Procurement Supervisor will execute Vale’s procurement for the operations, through the complete understanding of the sourcing process, aligned with the standards and controls of the Vale Procurement team, ensures the accomplishment of the area financial goals and company growth objectives in the region. Your accountabilities will include:


  • Recruit and develop a high performing and motivated procurement team.
  • Ensure procurement process compliance to company’s norms as well as the required internal and external auditing criteria.
  • Lead multifunctional teams in order to improve strategic demands specifications, test new products and solutions and monitoring products performance.
  • Supervise the purchase of Global, Regional and Local categories as assigned to team.
  • Responsible for managing the successful execution of the procurement sourcing plan for commodities and services outlined in area of accountability.
  • Seek input, user feedback to the procurement process, allowing continuous learning and improvement.
  • Suggest annual cost saving programs and assist in the implementation of business strategies that directly affect the Company’s financial results and growth plans.
  • Execute Procurement Sourcing in North America for group of categories.
  • Define and validate procurement strategy recommended by procurement analysts.
  • Facilitate the interfacing of Procurement Analysts with local users, consolidating and understanding their needs and demands.
  • Represent Vale at external meetings with national associations, federations, industry organization, public and private entities.
  • Support the Global/Regional/Local Procurement Manager in providing precise demand specifications and negotiating the regional/local clauses of Global purchasing as required to support team.
  • Lead multifunctional teams in order to ensure users demands are met in terms of quality, budgeting and timing.


About You


Education:


  • Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP) – an asset.
  • Undergraduate degree is required.


Experience:


  • 8 -10 years of experience in a similar subject area


Knowledge & Skills:


  • Knowledge & experience of Quality Management systems like ISO-9001
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of financial systems such as SAP
  • Ability to interact at all levels of the organization including with senior management.
  • Proven analytical skills.
  • Strong writing and verbal communications skills.
