At a Glance


Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Buyer/Planner to join the Solarfective Team in Scarborough, ON.


The Senior Buyer/Planner is responsible for planning, directing and managing resources to support MRP schedules. In addition, the Buyer monitors the product/program/project from initiation through delivery. Organizes interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the product/program/project on schedule and within product cost targets.


What Will You Do?


Main Activities


  • Main Interface: Internal – Customer Service Rep, Sales Tea., Engineers, Product
  • Organization: Individual Contributor competency model

  • Budget: Manages annual cost reduction, Inventory budgets, and forecasts, provides


input to the entity. Budget Shipping numbers, and manages actual to budget throughout


the fiscal year. Increase Inventory Turnover ratio.


Main Job Duties


  • This role is responsible for Scheduling customer orders, material requirement planning,


purchasing, supplier relationship management, and updating the Item parameters and


pricing in the ERP.


  • The buyer/planner leads the production planning and sets the delivery schedules in


coordination with the Production, Quality, and shipping department.


  • The buyer/planner must be a key driver of risk management avoidance, uphold


scheduling techniques and monitor MRP systems to avoid stock-out conditions.


  • Maintains project priorities and facilitates timely communication regarding delivery to


Customer Service/Sales.


  • Reviews overdue purchase orders, contacts suppliers to establish revised dates and


update the ERP. Notifies appropriate departments of any significant delays.


  • Determine and establish optimal inventory levels based on the forecast, demand


variation, and material lead times.


  • Establishes and assures adherence to product cost targets, schedules, work plans and


performance requirements.


  • Monitors systemic problems with the supply base concerning quality and delivery for


corrective actions and process improvements.


  • Develops and maintains strong value add relationships with suppliers. Monitors supplier


capacities for assigned commodities to ensure no unexpected capacity constraints


occur. Conducts frequent meetings with critical suppliers to ensure that open issues are


adequately resolved, visits supplier sites as necessary to maintain the business


relationship. Facilitate setting up the New Vendor. Ensures supplier scorecards are


documented and reviewed with key suppliers on a regular basis and drives supplier


corrective actions.


  • Implements strategic policies in source selection, single source and outsource


decisions.


Qualifications


Education: Bachelor's degree with CSCP or CPIM.


Experience: 5-7 years’ experience in Production Planning and Purchasing in a manufacturing environment.


Skills/Knowledge/Abilities


  • Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus extract the necessary information, and validate understanding of the information.
  • Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team-based environment.
  • Exceptional computer skills, extensive knowledge of Excel, word processing, presentation, and database software, proficiency with various e-mail, calendaring, meeting management, and related communications software.
  • Requires strong organizational and time management skills and close attention to detail.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Able to effectively manage multiple priorities and respond quickly to new opportunities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have strong analytical skills and proven ability to effectively research and summarize information in an effective manner and make recommendations based upon analysis.
  • Demonstrates ethical behavior as a sourcing professional.
  • Must be proficient in negotiation and influencing skills.


Additional Requirements


  • Prepare material schedules and plans.
  • Operate within various Company Business Operating systems
  • Recommend order policy type including but not limited to Make to Order (MTO) and Make to Stock (MTS)
  • Perform Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) from S&OP outputs (production and inventory plans)
  • Maintain demand stream and system parameter aspects of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Hands-on experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP), EPIC preferable
  • Ensure material availability (components and final assemblies) for designated areas.
  • Ensure all schedules are aligned to meet customer requirements.
  • Analyze inventory levels and determine actions to either reduce or increase levels.
