Software Engineer Jobs

Reporting to the Manager of Software Development, the Senior Full Stack Java & Svelte Software Developer will research design, implement, manage, and support software programs and their environments. They will identify areas for modification in existing programs and work with the team to plan development of these modifications.

Responsibilities:

• Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
• Maintain and improve the performance of existing software by investigating problem areas and proposing solutions.
• Mentors peers and provides technical input during requirements gathering stage.
• Test and maintain software products to ensure strong functionality and optimization.
• Improves operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures.
• Manage software environments, deployment pipeline and associate databases for all custom software development products.
• Work in collaboration with Solutions Analysts to analyze and design solutions, filter and prioritize requirements for development.
• Design and update software databases.
• Assists in prioritizing workload for the development team.
• Ensures requirements are understood and technically achievable before release to the development team.
• Clearly and regularly communicate with management and technical support colleagues.
• Recommend improvements to existing software programs as necessary.
• Provides valuable input on software design decisions.
• Assists in maintaining a balance of development team velocity and software quality.
• Document and demonstrate solutions by developing supporting documents, code comments and clean/concise code.
• Develop information systems by designing, developing, and installing software solutions following the software development lifecycle.
• Contribute to the team effort by completing other tasks or projects as assigned
• Protects operations by keeping information confidential.
• Provides estimates on features requests (time, resources, etc.).

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

• Demonstrated understanding of projects from the perspective of both client and business.
• Ability to work independently and multi-task effectively.
• Willing to lead team stand-ups and software design sessions with multiple teams.
• 5+ years of experience implementing web client applications using technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
• Provide excellent development team support via pair programming and mentoring sessions.
• Strong understanding of designing, implementing, and consuming REST APIs.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, verbally and written, across multiple teams with varying levels of technical knowledge.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical discipline, preferably Computer Science, Information Systems and/or equivalent education and experience.
• Ability to provide valuable and constructive feedback to peers during code reviews.
• Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery.
• Strong understanding of containerizing applications using technologies such as Docker.
• Experience with products like Git, GitHub, Confluence, and YouTrack.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Java/Spring Boot.
• Strong experience with front-end frameworks, including Svelte.
• Strong understanding of writing unit tests, using testing frameworks such as JUnit.
• Demonstrated exceptional code quality by following key software design principles such as SOLID, DRY, KISS, and YAGNI.
• Experience with relational database technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server.
• Flexible and willing to accept a change in priorities as necessary.
