The role we are offering you:

By joining us as manager of the software development, you will oversee a team of very talented professionals. You will be directly involved in the development, productization and evolutions of our healthcare training solutions contributing to make health care safer.

These training solutions evolve in both the physical and the virtual spaces and include patient simulators, medical equipment simulators, surgical simulators (such as interventional cardiology), ultrasound simulators and tailored training solutions for the medical device manufacturers (OEM).

You will actively participate in the growth of our CAE Healthcare division.

Are you ready to:

• Work in close cooperation with Business Development, Product Management, Clinical Experts, the project management office, Marketing, Customer Support, Sales and Operation to bring new products to market.
• Guide the team to maintain high standards of software engineering practices in an Agile environment.
• Maintain strong cooperative working relationships with other colleagues
• Manage a team of software developers.
• Oversee and optimize resource utilization.
• Stimulate team engagement.
• Attract and recruit the best talent, develop the talent pipeline.
• Oversee the roadmap execution (Quality, Schedule, Cost, Scope).
• Participate in the vision, strategy and roadmap creation and prioritization
• Maintain strong cooperative working relationships with other colleagues.
• Meet and work with our customers of the medical device industry to who we build customized training solutions.
• Communicate organization’s strategic plans and aligns work of self and others accordingly.
• Ensure that the environment is conducive to productive work
• Be in an environment that works with the latest and greatest technologies such as AR, VR, Cloud, Game Engine, Simulation platforms, physiology modeling, AI, Data Analytics and much more.
• Conduct goal setting, performance assessments and reviews.
• Be responsible for the development, monitoring, and control of departmental budget(s) throughout the year.

Our ideal candidate has:

• Minimum 10 years of software development experience. Prior experience as a manager an asset.
• Experience with Agile development.
• Proven ability to lead a group of developers.
• Strong understanding of the fundamentals of software development
• Demonstrated product development competencies in the Medical Device/Healthcare Industry, an asset.
• Strong leadership skills .
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in French and English.
• A results-driven mindset (with a very high focus on Quality and Schedule)
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or Computer Science, or a related field of study, or equivalent.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to lead several employees and carry out several tasks simultaneously.
