Job Description

Work locations include USA, Canada, or Mexico

Responsibilities:

  • Install new and rebuild existing Linux servers, configure hardware, services, settings, directories, storage, and other components. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Keep systems properly configured, updated, healthy, hardened and scaled to meet the project/operational requirements.
  • Write and maintain scripts using Python or Ansible as part of a team moving towards implementing modern DevOps concepts using tools including git, continuous build/integration, and infrastructure as code.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues and respond to high priority and escalated tickets and communicate status and resolution to end users and management.
  • Works with IT teams to address performance and capacity issues with existing systems.
  • Configure Linux operating systems on virtual machines and physical servers.
  • Responsible for securing Linux servers including identity, patch, and access management.
  • Research and recommend innovative automated approaches for system administration tasks
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards and security posture of systems in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Engineering of systems administration-related solutions for various projects and operational needs in a major enterprise environment.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Experience supporting container services such as Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Proven ability to perform root cause analysis of network, operating system, and other issues
  • Experience using enterprise monitoring systems
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, IaaC, and code review workflows
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S/B.A) from four-college or university and 5+ years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with bare metal provisioning using PXE.
  • Experience with configuration management and orchestration tools like Ansible and Jenkins
  • Advanced knowledge and experience creating and executing shell scripts or other systems scripting languages - bash, Python, Ansible, Ruby, Perl, or others.
  • Strong understanding of Linux packaging concepts - dependencies, conflicts, repositories, package signing.
  • Experience in configuration and maintenance of application infrastructure such as web servers, load balancers, relational databases, storage systems and messaging systems
  • Proven ability to collaborate and work remotely including use of communication tools
  • Proven experience with Linux server administration – applying patches, ensuring health, right-sizing, architecture standards, and troubleshooting problems.
  • Experience with Linux hypervisors and provisioning virtual machines.

Salary Range

$118,275.00 - $186,600.00 USD (Salary)

  • Please note that the salary information provided herein is base pay only (gross); it does not include other forms of compensation which may or may not apply to this specific position, namely, performance-based bonuses, benefits-related payments, or other general incentives - none of which are guaranteed, may be subject to specific eligibility requirements, and are wholly within the discretion of Astreya to remit.
  • Further, the salary information noted above is a range that consists of a minimum and maximum rate of pay for this specific position. Where an applicant or employee is placed on this range will depend and be contingent on objective, documented work-related considerations like education, experience, certifications, licenses, preferred qualifications, among other factors.
