Your opportunity
Dillon’s Transportation & Facilities group is looking for a Senior Transportation Engineer/Project Manager to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.
This position is available at one of our Ontario locations (Toronto, Guelph, Kitchener, Oakville, Windsor, Chatham, Hamilton, London & Ottawa) with the opportunity for flexible and remote work arrangements to help balance the competing demands of work and personal life.
Responsibilities
What your day will look like
Design and Project management
  • Lead the preparation of Contract documentation, including contract drawings, construction specifications, tender quantity and cost estimates, and working day estimates
  • Management of transportation engineering projects and multidisciplinary project teams (including transportation, structural, electrical and water resource engineers, transportation systems planners, environmental planners, environmental scientists, technical support staff, etc.)
  • Lead the preparation of technical reports and studies to support the development of civil infrastructure designs, including EA documentation
  • Management and delivery of stakeholder consultation programs and municipal council and agency presentations
  • Continuous development of technical expertise on a variety of transportation engineering projects, including transportation master plans, environmental assessments, preliminary design, detailed design and construction phase services
Business Development
  • Contribute to the leadership and growth of the Transportation group
  • Business travel for project meetings and to other Dillon offices upon request
  • Prepare estimates and project proposals
  • Contribute to the development of public and private sector client relationships and new business opportunities
Learning & Development
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
  • Contribute to the career development of junior and intermediate staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring
  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 10 years' professional experience, preferably in the consulting industry
  • A degree in civil or transportation engineering
  • Licensed to practice as a professional engineer in the province of Ontario, or eligible to be licensed within six months
  • Proven leadership and business development capabilities
Experience
  • Demonstrated abilities in the management and leadership of multidisciplinary projects and teams
  • In-depth understanding of business issues associated with consulting engineering and planning
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3D or Bentley OpenRoads would be an asset
  • Proven experience in environmental assessment, preliminary and detailed design of municipal and provincial transportation facilities. Experience with the Ministry of Transportation, Ontario and alternative project delivery models would be an asset
  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written) skills are essential
  • Experience in the geometric design of highways, municipal roads and intersections
  • Proven skills in public and agency consultation
  • Exceptional abilities in project management
