Job Description
Role


Reporting to either the Procurement Supervisor or Procurement Manager, the Sr. Purchaser’s role is focused on fulfilling requisition orders or requests for materials, tools, equipment and services for projects and operational requirements. A Senior Purchaser is typically assigned major or high-risk projects as well as a team of Purchasers and Assistants. The Sr. Purchaser is responsible for ensuring that the correct material, equipment, and services are sourced for the projects at the best price and available on site when needed to ensure the projects are on time and on budget. The Sr. Purchaser is responsible for acting in the best interests of the projects and company to ensure the best use of financial resources. The Sr. Purchaser will provide guidance to the Purchasers in day-to-day procurement activities.


Responsibilities


  • Source service contractors and maintain subcontractor registry
  • Work as part of a project team
  • Identify opportunities to create efficiencies and work with Procurement Manager to implement solutions
  • Create POs with applicable terms and conditions following the company’s procurement and accounting practices under the direction of the Procurement Manager
  • Active communication with vendors and support Procurement Manager with supplier relationship management initiatives
  • Responsible for the PO through need identification, request for quotation/proposal, expediting, delivery, payment, and PO close out
  • Function as a leader to support direct and indirect reports with their procurement activities
  • Review, audit and maintain the project Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Source all required materials in the most cost-effective manner while ensuring need dates are consistently met
  • Utilize and maintain the material database, ensuring material is ordered with a Rising Edge material number and pricing is updated for future estimating requirements
  • Identify gaps in standard terms & conditions regarding requirements from the Prime Contract and work with Procurement Manager to develop supplementary conditions to be issued on the PO to address legal and/or commercial risks
  • Ensure pertinent information is on the PO or attached for each order (i.e., specifications, drawings, schedule)
  • Lead the continual development and standardization of project controls at Rising Edge Group


Requirements


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Finance and 5+ years purchasing experience; or Diploma in Business or Finance and 7+ years purchasing experience. SCMP designation or enrollment preferred
  • Accreditations such as SCMP, PMP, CPIM, CSCP would be an asset
  • Proficient in sourcing, negotiations, and other Supply Chain activities
  • Experience in ViewPoint (Vista) Construction Software is an asset
  • Well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
  • Experience in procurement material and equipment within the electrical utility industry would be considered an asset
  • Increasing responsibilities and complexity of work through career
  • Strong computer skills in a Windows environment, including but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, Internet Explorer, and SharePoint
