Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Position Overview:

Torus Talent is actively searching for a Mechanical Engineer to join their Vancouver based client on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate will be interested helping assist with the expansion of a small team with the support of a larger organization

This person will get to work on a multi-disciplinary team getting exposure on (commercial or industrial or institutional) projects. Our client’s expertise in energy modeling, thermal comfort analysis, commissioning, and sustainable system design positively impact projects ranging from small commercial to large institutional projects.

Further Responsibilities Include the Following:

• Work with architects, interior designers, structural and electrical engineers to create truly integrated and sustainable design solutions
• Integrate energy modelling, building information modelling, value engineering and life cycle costing to determine the optimum mechanical system solutions
• Manage, coordinate and prepare documentation from schematic design to construction documents
• Carry out day to day project management
• Maintain and lead design standards
• Manage BIM (REVIT) models and engineering drawings for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for various building types
• Mentor junior staff
• Design HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and building automation systems for various building types

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

• Strong understanding and experience with schematic design, design development, detailed design calculations and contract administration
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects and various deadlines
• Experience using REVIT MEP and AutoCAD software
• Experience using load and energy modelling software (IES) is an asset
• LEED accreditation is considered an asset
• University Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required, registered P.Eng is preferred
• 5-10 years of experience with HVAC, plumbing and drainage, fire protection systems, heating and cooling systems for residential, commercial and institutional buildings, and demonstrated green design experience
