About The Role
Responsible for contributing to the development and management of Asset Management Canada's product shelf for retail, HNW and Institutional clients, ensuring that Asset Management Canada products are successful, fit for purpose, profitable, competitive and efficiently delivered. To align Asset Management Canada's Product Management activities with the strategic and business objectives of the local business and product function globally, and to propose/recommend, analyze and implement new or changes to products & services to enhance profitability, asset growth, customer acquisition & retention.
Responsibilities
  • Manage cross functional working groups to implement and bring to market new or enhanced products and services, actively working with the different business areas impacted, managing and communicating with stakeholders and respecting budgets and timelines for a successful launch.
  • HOST / Information Technology / Change Delivery / Wealth Operations
  • Establish strong relationships with sponsors and stakeholders in order to manage and deliver a group of projects to achieve business objectives.
  • Manage existing product shelf, including conducting product reviews and formulating recommendations, maintaining investment policies and guidelines, pricing, policies and procedures and regulatory documents.
  • Most internal functions & teams within Asset Management Canada
  • Contribute to maintaining robust governance over local products, have knowledge of regulations impacting product design, implementation and investment management of the portfolio.
  • HSBC Private Investment Counsel
  • Identify opportunities and develop new product ideas and features, including idea generation, developing product concepts, gathering and analyzing competitive intelligence, writing and presenting proposals, securing approvals and stakeholder buy-in, assessing commercial viability and ensuring alignment with the firm’s strategic objectives.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
  • Inspire, lead & engage project teams to implement key business changes.
  • Asset Management Group, Wealth and Personal Banking, Wealth Development & HSBC Investment Funds
  • Managing product team’s relationships with retail & institutional sales teams and with key internal and external stakeholders & support functions – i.e. distribution channels, IT, operations, compliance, legal, tax, finance, investment teams and sub-advisors.
  • Demonstrate leadership through effective management of project working groups
  • HSBC Bank Canada Compliance / Legal / Tax / Finance
  • Demonstrate teamwork through effective communication, participation and collaboration with team and other areas of the business.

Requirements
  • Higher level investment qualifications (CFP/PFP, CIM, CFA) essential
  • Exceptional organizational, problem solving & planning skills
  • Bachelor degree in finance, business, related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years relevant product development and product management experience in wealth management environment
  • In depth understanding of HSBC Group’s policies, controls and processes – especially as they relate to investment businesses
  • Additional preferred qualifications:
  • Strong project management and a successful track record of leading multiple multi-functional project teams within aggressive timelines to successfully implement change initiatives in a wealth management environment – especially in respect of mutual funds, wrap services & discretionary/advisory investment management services
  • Strong relationship building and relationship management skills
  • Exceptional written & verbal communications & presentation skills
  • A thorough understanding of Canadian securities regulations – in particular in an MFDA regulated environment, the investment funds industry and asset management business
  • A positive, driven, can-do attitude – a self-starter with extremely high energy & motivation levels, high degree of ownership and constructive sense of urgency
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to think creatively and laterally and to identify actionable, effective solutions to complex and technical investment related issues.
  • In-depth understanding of investment products, wealth management and wealth planning in the Canadian financial services environment
  • French language skills
