Job Title: Senior Machine Learning Scientist - Medical Image Processing
Company: vortX labs
Location: Canada, Remote, PT/MT Zones
Who We Are
At vortX labs, we're leading the way in developing AI tools to transform industries. Our innovative products empower professionals to reach their full potential, boosting productivity and freeing up time for what matters most. Come join us on this journey toward a brighter future.
What You’ll Do
We are hiring a Senior Machine Learning Scientist to work on an AI tool that processes medical images. While the exact product roadmap is constantly evolving, we can say that this tool will cut out a lot of busy work and guesswork so that the medical professional can focus on what matters most: Building trust with their patient and devising the optimal treatment.
You will work fully remotely within a small and dedicated product team on all aspects of a cutting-edge machine learning model, including design, development and training. Problem scenarios you might encounter include image segmentation and multi-label classification. It will be good to have experience in this domain. To take the product beyond the model stage, you will collaborate with other team members to design, develop, and optimize the solution, drawing on MLOps and software design skills.
All this development work requires constant and effective communication with our stakeholders, including medical professionals, to understand their business requirements and propose technical solutions. We typically have weekly meetings with our clients, where you will be presenting results and gathering feedback.
To keep up with the latest advancements in medical image processing, computer vision, and machine learning, you will spend some time doing active research, literature reviews, internal demos and other knowledge-building and knowledge-sharing activities. As a senior team member, you will also provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members and interns.
Who We Are Looking For
Overall, we look for a team member who is passionate about AI, driven to learn, humble, kind, knowledgeable, and embodies integrity, collaboration, and accountability.
You’ll probably have an advanced degree (MSc or Ph.D.) in a relevant field and at least three years of professional experience with machine learning and computer vision for medical image processing, including image segmentation, data labelling, and multi-label classification. Ideally, you’ll have had exposure to standard medical imaging modalities such as X-rays, CTs, or MRIs.
However, more important than the total number of years worked is what you can show us. We’d love to hear about what you’ve worked on, how it was built, and why it was a success. You’ll undoubtedly have used one or more common deep learning frameworks and are fluent in Python.
You’ll be wearing many hats beyond that of an ML researcher, so we expect strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment. As a remote worker, you’ll have excellent self-management and time-management skills and be comfortable in your written and verbal communication.
Benefits
We might be a young startup, but we have solid backing from our investors. That means we can offer a benefits package with an attractive base salary, employee stock options, and a comprehensive health package with a health and wellness spending account. We also provide four weeks (20 days) of vacation plus extra time off over the winter holidays.
By joining our team, you get the chance to work on cutting-edge medical image projects in a dynamic environment, and because we’re so young, you’ll get to have your say and shape the future of vortX labs.
