Data Scientist / Machine Learning Intern

CANN Forecast is a dynamic start-up that uses artificial intelligence to develop decision support tools in the water sector. Our mission is to enhance the value of data to help municipalities be proactive in water management.

INTERN'S MISSIONS

We are looking for someone who is passionate and motivated to assist with the development and deployment of our software architecture aimed at helping municipalities be proactive in water management. With the support of our multidisciplinary team, the intern will have the opportunity to:

• Work closely with senior data scientists on real-world projects, contributing to the development and improvement of the AI/ML model performance.
• Learn and gain hands-on experience in the field of data science and AI-driven solutions for water management and provide valuable insights to municipalities.
• Conduct research and analysis to identify patterns and insights from time series data to improve forecasting accuracy.

PROFILE

The ideal person for this internship:

• Experience with time series data is considered an asset.
• Experienced with writing computer code, querying databases, and using computer languages like Python and SQL query.
• Strong problem-solving skills: An ability to approach complex problems analytically and derive actionable insights from data.
• Ability to generate visually appealing and clear plots using Python libraries such as matplotlib and seaborn.
• Experience using Python libraries to create machine learning / statistical models (scikit-learn, SciPy, pandas, TensorFlow, XGBoost, etc).

WORK TERM AND SALARY

Internship for 6 months at 35h/week, starting in August/September 2023. Possibility of permanent employment at the end of the internship. Hourly rate: $24/hour.
