Job Description
Our client, Shel-Bar Electronic Industries Ltd, based in Airdrie, is hiring a Senior Security Service Technician to join their quickly growing, industry leading, Security Systems Integration company.


Who is our client? A Canadian company specializing in the Integration of Security, Life Safety and Information Systems. They utilize an out of the box approach to their customers design, installation, and integration security needs. Progressive and fast-growing, this electrical/security service company that takes great pride in providing their clients with professional trade experience. Their priority is client-focused medium to large scale access control and video management systems.


Who are you? A motivated, attentive and hardworking Network Specialist with security access control, video management and audio visual experience. The ideal individual will have at least 5 years of experience in installing emergency communications and security systems with a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Server, Networking and switches environments.


Primary Daily Tasks


  • Safe operation of a company vehicle with reporting of issues.
  • Working directly with a large energy-related client.
  • Liaison with customers for scheduling and completion of work required.
  • Monitoring and responding to hands-on service requests with a focus on hands-on installations or repairs.


Salary: Starting at $33.00 per hour


Hours of Work:


Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm (Full-Time)


Typical day, although start and end times may vary.


Travel:


This role will be a combination of in office and out of town. Most travel will be within Alberta, but possible travel to British Columbia or Ontario or the US is possible once or twice a year.


Responsibilities


  • Program and test a variety of non-routine security systems and equipment.
  • Demonstrate aptitude for troubleshooting systems and performing necessary repairs.
  • General housekeeping of work area.
  • Programming of servers in Windows environments (SQL, Microsoft Server, Management Studio, Server Manager)
  • Perform service and new installation commissioning activities on access control, CCTV, intrusion alarm and intercom systems.
  • Installation of completed racks, projectors, monitors / videowalls and related sub-mounts.
  • Assists with testing of system components to ensure system completeness and convention.
  • Review and interpret electrical drawings.
  • Installation and service of IP based and analog CCTV (Genetec, Milestone, Avigilon).
  • Build equipment system racks, pull cables, and prepare equipment for installation.
  • Write a variety of non-routine programs for systems.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of electricity and electronics.
  • Provide excellent customer service, while maintaining an approachable and professional demeanor while on the job.
  • Operate systems to demonstrate equipment, commission new systems, analyze performance and identify malfunctions.
  • This role is focused primarily on the hands-on installing of strikes, contracts, cameras, cabinets and wiring.


Requirements


  • Minimum of 3-5 years of previous security Access Control systems experience is a strong asset.
  • Diploma in Electronics preferred.
  • Self-motivated - work with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to complete and submit required paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work alone as well as jointly as a team player with other technicians and trades.
  • Advanced capabilities for troubleshooting, audio setup and video setup.
  • Experience within a service van technician role.
  • Great time management skills, with experience in prioritizing tasks in order of urgency.
  • Genetec Certification is preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a clean Criminal Record Background check.
  • Working knowledge of IT network systems.
  • Proficient with SQL and Windows OS.
  • Ability to use power tools, read and follow wiring diagrams, as well as problem solve in the field, is an requirement.
  • Valid drivers license with clean driving record.
