On being a Senior Environmental Inspector at OTG
The Environmental Inspector will be responsible for monitoring and inspecting all aspects of Ontario Line South project to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations, contractual environmental commitments. and the conditions of permits under which the project operates.. Key responsibilities of the Environmental Inspector include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure that all necessary environmental permits and approvals are in place and up-to-date
  • Communicate regularly with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with environmental requirements
  • Collect and analyze samples to identify potential environmental hazards
  • Conduct regular inspections of the construction site to identify potential environmental hazards
  • Prepare reports detailing findings and recommendations for improvement
  • Provide guidance and advice on environmental issues to project staff
  • Ensure that all construction activities are carried out in compliance with applicable environmental regulations and permits
  • Monitor air, water, and soil quality at the construction site
  • Environmental monitoring / mitigation during transportation project construction ex. watercourses and in the application and correction of erosion and sedimentation control measures, reporting Spills and the containment of effluent and dust during construction
  • Maintain records and documentation related to environmental compliance
Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably in infrastructure construction projects
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Canadian Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CAN-CISEC)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in the use of environmental monitoring equipment and software
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of federal, provincial, and local environmental regulations and permitting requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
