About You:

The Engineering team at Vital is seeking a passionate and creative person to fill the role of Senior Electrical Engineer. We're looking for a teammate proficient in all aspects of engineering management, from design to deployment, who can employ excellence at the highest level to help accomplish our ambitious goals.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Vital, you will be involved directly with the design, development, and production of electrical, mechanical, and optical components of our next-generation product within a multidisciplinary team. You will regularly interact with other team members to establish needs, lead result analysis, troubleshoot, and transfer analytical findings that will impact our roadmap. You will work closely with our Directors, as well as our research and science teams to build and refine our next-generation product.

What you will Do:

• Support sustainable engineering function for a highly complex medical device;
• Contribute to the effort at all stages of design and prototyping: initial concept development, rapid and iterative design and testing efforts, manufacturing of engineering prototypes and demonstration to customers and investors;
• Work with various vendors to ensure timely progress and execution of projects;
• Source components and interface with suppliers;
• Maintain accurate project documentation using CAD tools, including schematics, BOMs, and release packages;
• Collaborate on outsourced designs and manufacturing relationships.
• Be involved in design, development, integration, and testing of system components, including circuit boards, cables and connectors, analog and digital sensors, actuators;
• Collaborate with a team of engineers to design and prototype embedded hardware, firmware, and software;
• Create and manage manufacturing test plans and documents;

What you will Bring:

• Proficiency with Analog and digital circuit design, electronics design, PCB layout and manufacturing, and testing;
• Solid knowledge of current state-of-the-art technologies in ICs, sensors, actuators;
• 7+ years of industrial experience, or equivalent academic experience, in integrated systems design and product development, preferably with a focus on medical devices and/or robotics/automation systems in life-science;
• Experience integrating of SoM/SoCs and FPGAs;
• Good electrical/electronics/firmware aptitude and a solid understanding of electrical engineering principles;
• Master’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent;
• Experiences in helping to grow and lead teams;
• Strong experience in the Engineering design process, Design for Manufacturability (DFMA) and/or FMEA, and circuitry prototyping;
• Knowledge of electronics fabrication and assembly as well as embedded middleware applications and services.

What would be really Exciting:

• Familiarity with low-level image analysis using FPGAs
• Experience with ARM Cortex-M firmware design and testing;
• Experience with embedded Linux: bootloading, hardware access, drivers, device tree, etc.
• Appreciation of puns!
• Experience in medical device development and especially IVD;
• Familiarity with low-level image capture using MIPI-CSI image sensors
