Senior Cybersecurity Specialist (Permanent)

CoreFactor is searching for a Senior Cybersecurity Specialist on a permanent/full-time basis in the GTA.

This role is hybrid and will require the successful incumbent to come into the downtown office 2 times per week.

About The Role

Our client is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Specialist to join its Security Operations team. This role will report to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and operate in a hybrid work environment. We are looking for a person with a passion for cybersecurity and who wants to grow their career.

The Security Operations team is responsible for managing the enterprise-wide operational cybersecurity program.

The Senior Cybersecurity Specialist’s primary role is to lead and assist with the organization Security Operations’ activities and investigate, report, and resolve cybersecurity events and incidents.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and communicate threat intelligence information to appropriate stakeholders.
• Lead, when required, the cybersecurity incident response process.
• Communicate information security concepts and practices in non-technical language.
• Assess current IT environment for vulnerabilities, weaknesses and for upgrades or improvement.
• The Senior Cybersecurity Specialist will:
• Monitor logging and alerting reported from various systems across the company.
• Escalate appropriately and timely when a situation threatens the current state.
• Research cybersecurity trends, new methods, and techniques.
• Remain current in cyber security training through education courses and seminars.
• Consult with the Incident Management team to respond to cybersecurity events and incidents.
• Investigate, escalate, resolve, and document cybersecurity events and incidents.
• Assist with management and administration of cybersecurity devices.
• Mentor and educate member of the Security Operation team and staff.
• Provide recommendations to improve our cybersecurity processes and reduce our risk posture.
• Provide reports to the CISO as needed.
• Administer and support cybersecurity solutions and services.
• Assist with compliance activities.
• Serve as a point of contact for the Security Operations team and the organization.

Requirements

• Knowledge of cybersecurity, privacy and regulatory requirements and emerging cybersecurity trends and issues.
• Troubleshoot technical cybersecurity issues.
• Experience in financial services is also a plus.
• Flexibility with respect to working hours.
• Security certifications such as CISSP are a plus.
• Knowledge of industry-leading cybersecurity frameworks, practices, and technologies.
• 6-8 years of experience with enterprise-scale, cybersecurity/IT programs.
• Manage multiple priorities and available resources in a challenging environment.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited post-secondary institution.
• Excellent communication and people skills, especially the ability to communicate technical issues to a non-technical audience.
• Work independently and manage priorities.
