Senior Communications Specialist


THE COMPANY

Woodfibre LNG Limited (“WLNG”) is building a liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing and export facility southwest of Squamish, British Columbia to produce approximately 2.1 million metric tonnes per annum of LNG with associated storage capacity of 250,000 m3, and export infrastructure. Woodfibre LNG will source its natural gas from Pacific Canbriam Energy.

THE POSITION

PECCL is currently searching for a Senior Communications Specialist based in Calgary, AB. The successful candidate will be a proactive self-starter and will play a key role in the creation of a broad range of communication materials, focusing primarily on the needs of PCE. As a member of the larger multidisciplinary team across PCE, the Senior Communications Specialist will liaise and collaborate with several different groups.This position will report to the EVP Corporate Development of PCE and the EVP of PECCL, with a dotted line functional reporting to the VP, Communications, Sustainability & Project Management at WLNG.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with issues management, monitor media and social media channels for coverage, identify issues of concern and assist in execution of response strategies
  • Assist with event planning, including logistical arrangements, procurement of required goods and services and event execution
  • Develop posts and regular reporting for PCE’s social media channels
  • Develop and contribute to a wide range of content, including blog posts, social media posts, event collateral, advertising creative, briefing notes and info sheets. This may include appropriate research to better understand subject matter or to create more effective materials
  • Collaborate with internal groups and stakeholders to develop and execute on communications plans and activities
  • Regularly report on all PCE’s digital channels
  • Assist with community engagement and stakeholder relations plans and activities as needed
  • Maintain and develop content for PCE’s website

  • Work with minimal supervision, taking multiple tasks across the finish line simultaneously
  • Ability to absorb technical information and present it in non-complex, easily understood written and graphic formats

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in communications, marketing, public relations or related field preferred
  • Proven experience managing corporate social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in communications or related field, with preference for experience in Energy industry, particularly in British Columbia
  • Must have experience in crisis and issues management
  • Proficient in a range of digital tools and platforms including Wordpress, Mailchimp, Meta Business Manager, Hootsuite and Powerpoint
  • Strong awareness of media and government landscape in British Columbia
