Policy and Research Analyst
Overall job purpose
The Policy and Research Analyst, is responsible for providing research and policy analysis to advance children's health and healthcare in Canada.
This role will support the Senior Advisor and other team members in developing and implementing policy and advocacy priorities aligned with Children's Healthcare Canada's strategic goals. The analyst will also contribute to supporting knowledge mobilization initiatives and assist in representing the organization in meetings and consultations with stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Engage and support association members with regional advocacy and policy activities, as needed.
- Prepare environmental scanning documents to inform members and staff about current trends and implications in the policy area.
- Stay updated on emerging policy priorities and trends through environmental scanning and consultation with stakeholders.
- Provide strategic and content support for meetings with policy makers.
- Coordinate and manage specific projects related to policy roundtables and large-scale policy initiatives in collaboration with external consultants.
- Offer ad hoc research and policy support to Pediatric Chairs of Canada, as needed.
- Assist in developing policy fact sheets and key messages for Children's Healthcare Canada.
- Collaborate with the Government Relations Specialist and Senior Policy and Research Advisor to ensure alignment between policy and advocacy priorities.
- Conduct analysis and interpretation of research evidence to prepare background documents, policy briefs, and relevant materials in support of policy and advocacy priorities.
- Represent Children's Healthcare Canada in meetings and consultations on health and practice policy issues with stakeholders.
Key skills and competencies
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with children's health, Indigenous health, comparative international and provincial health systems, health human resources, health research, climate change and health, MAID for mature minors, and other emerging files.
- Strong organizational skills and time management.
- Flexibility, agility, and openness to change.
- Proficiency in leveraging technology for engagement (e.g., Google Suite, MS tools, MailChimp, SurveyMonkey, etc.).
- Ability to research, analyze, and synthesize complex information quickly.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and policy writing skills.
- Ability to interact with and brief CHC members.
- Attention to detail and good judgment.
- Self-motivated and reliable.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
- Project Management experience is an asset
Education
- Indicate the minimumeducation required:UniversityBachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Public Policy Administration, Health Sciences or a related area
Experience
·Minimum of 3 years experience in project management, policy writing, and knowledge mobilization activities.
Additional Comments:
- This role may involve supporting colleagues in other portfolios and linking policy priorities to knowledge mobilization initiatives.
- While reporting to the CEO, tasks may require support for or informal reporting to other team members at Children's Healthcare Canada.
