Reporting to the Manager of Strategic Planning and Research of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC), the Policy Planning and Research Analyst provides support in the areas of policy planning, research, and development of organizational initiatives for the RNC. This position is responsible for policy review, analysis, revision, development and evaluation; conducting research on various policing-related topics; consulting with internal and external stakeholders; monitoring policing literature, news, trends and events; responding to requests for policy information from other police services in Canada; assisting in the preparation of strategic plans/annual reports and additional reporting requirements; serving as the Strategic Planning and Research representative on working groups and/or committees; and other duties as assigned.
Screening Criteria:
-Undergraduate degree in Business, Statistics, Social Sciences or related field (equivalencies will be considered)
-Experience in policy development processes (asset)
-Experience reviewing and analyzing policy
-Experience in consulting with internal and external stakeholders
-Experience in preparing documents such as reports, presentations and briefing materials
Assessment Criteria:
-Knowledge of policy development processes (asset)
-Knowledge of reviewing and analyzing policy
-Knowledge of current issues related to law enforcement (asset)
-Ability to prepare documents such as reports, presentations and briefing materials
-Ability to effectively exchange information
