The Opportunity:

The Coordinator of Research & Development is dedicated to supporting business activities necessary to bring finished food products to the North American market. In a supporting role to the Manager of Research & Development, the Coordinator acts as an internal and external liaison for Sales, R&D, Quality, Regulatory, and Operations. The Coordinator ensures global product development projects meet standards for feasible implementation and successful commercialization.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

· Interact with new and existing customers to determine and analyze business development potential.

· Collect and manage all applicable information for open projects. Assign deadlines and monitor R&D efforts, both internal and external, to ensure all projects are completed on time and in most successful way possible.

· Work directly with Sales, Marketing, and R&D teams to verify suppliers and products meet both food safety and regulatory requirements via documentations and supplier site assessments, as required.

· Provide regulatory knowledge and solutions to affiliate companies in NA, and overseas.

· Manage relationships with outside service providers that provide regulatory, import, and logistics services.

· Keep abreast of emerging regulatory issues to determine business impact, implications, and opportunities.

· Liaise with government contacts for interpretation of various regulations.

· Organize and manage documentation according to established company policies and procedures.

Desired Qualifications & Competencies:

· Degree or Diploma in Food/Nutrition Science, Science & Business, or related field.

• 3+ years’ experience in a similar or related role where applicable project management skills are obtained.

• Established knowledge of Canada & US government food regulations including Health Canada, CFIA Guide to Food Labelling, USDA & FDA.

• Moderate knowledge in nutrition, food chemistry, product composition, and methods of analysis.

• Understanding of food qualities, nutritional content, interactions, and processing methods.

• Ability to handle complexity, multiple projects, and requests with short timelines.

• Import/export experience is an asset.

• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

• Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills.

• Willingness to go beyond expectations, learn new skills, and take on new challenges & responsibilities.

• Demonstrated customer service and excellent problem-solving skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, IT systems, and SAP is a bonus.
