At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model. In this role, you'll work primarily from your B.C. based home and occasionally in our Richmond office.
As a Research Advisor You Will
  • Collaborate with senior divisional leaders to operationalize the outcomes of research and provide assurance to the enterprise leadership team on outcomes of funded projects
  • Participate in implementing departmental plan initiatives to achieve outcomes
  • Use technology and analytical tools to develop, collect and track metrics and impact measurements and analyze data to assess ongoing impact of the research grants program and other portfolio initiatives
  • Identify, critically assess, interpret, articulate, and make recommendations on business impact and value to WorkSafeBC strategies, programs, and initiatives, of information gathered through ongoing environmental scanning of internal and external sources
  • Provide expertise and guidance to internal and external stakeholder committees and senior leaders to identify research priorities, questions, and design projects to address organizational needs
  • Lead, manage, and maintain simultaneous research projects and programs, including WorkSafeBC's research grants and corporate grants program
We're looking for people who can:
  • Interpret and translate complex scientific and non-scientific research (incuding quality and validity of the research, methods, design), business intelligence and analysis of evidence into plain language using multiple engaging formats for various audiences
  • Gather and analyze information, anticipate, and recognize risks and opportunities, develop options and solutions, and make appropriate decisions and recommendations to managers
  • Promote a client-centred, service-oriented approach to supporting internal and external clients
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to various audiences including senior leaders and external stakeholders, jurisdictional partners, researchers, and other agencies
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with internal and external clients, jurisdictional partners, and researchers
  • Maintain current knowledge in the field of knowledge translation and information sharing best practices, occupational health and safety, and other areas relevant to WorkSafeBC' s mandate
Your Background And Experience
  • A minimum of three years' experience working with statistical and epidemiological analysis and research methods
  • We'll consider an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A graduate degree in epidemiology, public policy, occupational hygiene, or library science
Important to know

  • Confirm you're legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Successfully meet the legal requirements under the Criminal Records Review Act to work with children and/or vulnerable adults.
