This position is located in Burnaby, British Columbia. The Remote Service Technician provides telephone and web based (email, chat, IM, internet portal) remote technical troubleshooting to internal and external customers for the Kodak Computer-to-Plate (CtP) devices and Device Connectivity. The successful candidate will have strong mechanical or electrical aptitude.
Responsibilities:
•Daily duties include in-depth technical troubleshooting, diagnosis of issues, recommendations for process efficiencies and improvements, remote connectivity to customer sites using proprietary and approved support tools
• Provide remote diagnostics for the various hardware and electronic elements of the Kodak systems for customers and partner companies
• Stay current with industry standard traditional (offset), and digital, prepress and printing practices and technologies
• Stay current with Kodak technologies, software applications, support methodologies, best practices, and processes as they relate to our proprietary systems and workflows (ongoing training provided)
• Contribute to ensuring that technically efficient, workable, and cost-effective solutions and/or systems and processes are in place
Requirements:
• Strong technical background - a Degree or Technical Diploma in Robotics, Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering is preferred or comparable career experience
• Drive and ability to learn – some self-learning will be required due to current restrictions
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written; additional languages (other than English) would be an asset
• Excellent analytical problem-solving skills
• Sense of urgency combined with ability to prioritize
• Knowledge of digital prepress and printing practices and technologies would be an asset
• Ability to analyze and interpret complicated information
• Ability to occasionally travel to the US provide direct onsite support to Kodak’s customers and attend training when required
• Flexibility in working holidays and shift work on a regularly scheduled basis (shifts cover 5am-11pm Mon-Fri, 24hrs on weekends)
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced, collaborative, and team-based environment
