Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Regional Health and Safety Manager acts as a leader in the execution of the health and safety program and strategy for AIM sites. The successful candidate will play an integral role in interacting with regional operations, health, facilities management teams and Human Resources Business Partners to influence and maintain trust-based relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.


What you're responsible for:


  • Managing the coordination of crisis situations and act as a key resource to partners and relevant authorities.
  • Conducting site visits and spot audits.
  • Participating in the creation and implementation of the health and safety strategic plan and overall health and safety program.
  • Managing a team of Health and Safety Advisors & Coordinators.
  • Promoting communication of overall H&S strategic plan and share best health and safety practices across all sites and departments.
  • Monitoring and reporting health and safety KPIs and develop a regional plan with Site Manager and operational teams to improve them.
  • Ensuring consistent delivery of the health and safety program, including the implementation of policies, programs, and processes to report and improve existing occupational health and safety practices and investigations.
  • Working in partnership with the Site Manager to ensure compliance with provincial health and safety regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborating with managers, supervisors and HR business partners to implement proactive and preventive work safety solutions.
  • Coaching, advising and supporting operations teams to develop an accident prevention culture.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in health and safety, Industrial Relations, Human Resources or another equivalent field and/or relevant professional certification.
  • Practical knowledge of applicable OHS legislation, standards, and regulations
  • Strong communication skills to maintain good interpersonal relations with various stakeholders.
  • An innovative and problem-solving mindset, constantly looking for creative ways to problem solve.
  • Bilingualism (an asset)
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in health and safety management in manufacturing or heavy industry, including experience in a multi-site environment.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment and ability to adapt to constant changes impacting health and safety.
