The Job
Branch Manager- Saskatchewan
The Branch Manager supervises and is responsible for all aspects of successful project execution within their branch. This includes developing plans for workforce allocation, scheduling, communication protocols, project specific processes and procedures and financial controls. The Branch Manager ensures that all requirements of a project are understood, are conveyed to the project team and are carried out correctly. The Branch Manager also manages their branch's staff.
GOAL
  • To manage their branch so that the work meets client's expectations and is executed in an efficient, cost effective, accurate and safe manner.
Key Responsibilities
  • The Branch Manager must develop a safety plan for a project if there isn't a Valard Safety plan
  • Good computer skills with knowledge of Excel, Outlook and equipment specific software
  • The Branch Manager
  • Must ensure that all branch staff have received proper instructions and are aware of project specific processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Is responsible for branch financials and must establish cost controls and perform periodic reviews to identify any risks
  • Approving leave for branch staff

  • Diploma or Degree in Geomatics or Civil Engineering
  • Will instruct project staff when deficiencies in work are identified
  • Workforce management including hiring staff
  • Setting branch specific policies
  • Will actively supervise the branch staff to ensure proper, efficient and timely execution of all work
  • Will manage shift schedules, accommodations and mobilization requirements for Crew Chiefs and Survey Assistants
  • Will manage any sub-contractors that are performing Geomatics work on a project

  • Will review branch staff's work to ensure that it meets expectations
  • Must establish communication protocols for projects within their branch which will include
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge of the type of project that the branch is working on
  • Is responsible for project financials and must establish cost controls and perform periodic reviews to identify any risks
  • Must participate in division-level meetings to coordinate the Crew Allocation between branches and projects
  • It is expected that the Branch Manager will actively participate in ensuring a safe workplace
  • Must ensure that the project staff are following all safety policies
  • This includes the site and day specific safety reporting
  • Systematic processes for project data and reporting
  • Ensuring that all safety paperwork is completed as required and requested
  • Very strong communication skills and English proficiency
  • Ensuring that their branch meets all safety policies and setting branch specific safety procedures
  • General property management
  • The Branch Manager must attend and participate in all safety meetings
  • The Branch Manager
  • Developing a safety plan
  • Saskatchewan Land Surveyor in good standing with the Saskatchewan Land Surveyors Association
  • Must be aware of what policies apply to all work being performed
  • Supervisory
  • Must be available for questions from the branch staff regarding work tasks, processes and procedures and general branch concerns

  • Knowing and understanding all Safety Policies that relate to the work being performed,
  • 5 years of experience as a Project Manager
  • Must carry out any instructions in the policies
  • Professional Engineer designation considered an asset
