Job Description

Our valued client, a large Oil & Gas company are seeking two Quality Assurance Engineers to join their Calgary team on a long term contract basis.


OVERVIEW:


  • As a QA Engineer in this area, others will expect you to provide proper guidance, recommendations, and resolutions on the day-to-day challenges. You will be working closely with many diverse groups including Projects, Procurement, Engineering, Asset Integrity, Maintenance, Inspectors, and contractors.
  • Your expertise will be crucial in keeping the clients facilities operational and safe.
  • Our valued client QA Engineer to join the Corporate QA team, work with the Lead QA, team of VQS engineers/specialists, Third Party Inspection Agencies (TPIA), and Third Party Inspectors (TPI) to apply industry experience to define, develop, review, and apply the regulatory standards, industrial codes, and quality requirements for company-wide projects.

  • Review Inspection Reports for compliance with assignment instructions and PO requirements.
  • Ensure all inspection activities are conducted in accordance with PO requirements and projects’ approved Inspection and Test Plans.
  • Review and provide relevant technical comments on RFQ/MR/RFP/Bids/Quotes.
  • Distribute Inspection Reports, Inspection Finding Log, and signed ITP in a timely manner to stakeholders.
  • Verify invoices for inspection hours & distance by comparing with inspection reports.
  • Oversee and assist in the resolution of Non-Conformance Reports, outstanding items, and inspection waivers raised against assigned POs.
  • Conduct and reports on interim/ad-hoc inspection visits to Vendors and Sub-Vendors, as required by the project.
  • Review Vendors and Sub-vendors’ ITPs and Quality/Test Procedures to ensure that they meet the requirements of the project.
  • Prepare and issue Inspection Assignments for Third Party Inspector activities. Assign competent inspector and mentor them for CNRL specific requirements.
  • Review content of Manufacturer Data Book to ensure that it meets project requirements.
  • Responsible for management of the inspection jobs for assigned POs regarding static equipment (e.g. vessels, drums, piping, furnace, boiler, etc.).
  • Coordinate and conduct the Pre-Inspection Meetings at the Vendor’s facility.

QUALIFICATION:


  • Experience working with equipment on heavy oil upgraders, large oil refining facilities, or petrochemical plants is a definite asset.
  • Strong knowledge and exposure to industrial codes and acts such as CSA, API, ASME BPV, ASME B31 series, Alberta Safety Codes Act, etc.
  • Bachelor degree or Technologist Diploma in Mechanical or Materials Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Quality Assurance role.
  • Understanding of work related documents, including drawings, P&IDs, test procedures, etc.

CERTIFICATION:


Holding the followings will be considered as an asset:


  • ABSA: In-Service Pressure Equipment Inspector.
  • APEGA: P.Eng.
  • NACE: CP or Coating Inspector.
  • API: 510, 570, SIFE.
  • CWB: Welding Inspector Level 2 or 3.
  • ASNT/ CGSB: Level 2 or 3.

LOCATION:

  • 5/2 – Monday to Friday.
  • Calgary (Frequent travel to vendor shops).
