About this opportunity:


We are seeking a Staff COIMS & Assurance Engineer who will lead and implement Cenovus’ Operations Integrity Management System (COIMS) assurance program. The successful candidate will support entities and business units in development of their corrective actions and is accountable for facilitating gap assessments including supporting implementation, adoption, and improvement of Gap Closure Plans.


This is an office position based at our office in downtown Calgary, Alberta. Periodic travel to field sites will be required.

Responsibilities:


  • Act as a single point of contact for their assigned portfolio of entities, for all COIMS related inquiries.
  • Work with leadership to coach/mentor on operationalizing COIMS processes and required behaviors.
  • Lead and participate in COIMS gap assessments.
  • Support development and standardization of entity-specific processes to meet the requirements set forth by the COIMS Framework/Standards.
  • Collaborate with COIMS Element sponsors and document owners to create standards and guidance documents.
  • Improving the assurance program and supporting COIMS management system review.
  • Oversee the COIMS reporting process for their assigned entities.
  • Support the implementation of the 15 Elements within their assigned entities (i.e., annual Management Review process, LOD planning/execution).
  • Verify and assist business units with completing their corrective actions as per agreed plan.
  • Facilitate entities through the COIMS exemption and renewal process.
  • Implement the COIMS assurance program (i.e., maintain assessment plan and annual assessment schedule).
  • Support the implementation, adoption and improvement of the Gap Closure Plans.


Qualifications:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Audit protocols with the ability to analyze and assess documentation against expectation of corporate standards/policies
  • Formal auditor training (i.e., ISO 9001 or equivalent).
  • An equivalent combination of formal HSE/Audit education combined with extensive field experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 12-15+ years of industry experience with 5 years of lead auditor experience is required.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng).
  • Performance assessment and continuous improvement industry best practices
  • Highly developed communication, leadership, facilitation, and coaching skills including the ability to present to large groups.
  • Measurement and metrics; ability to assess leading and lagging indicators against expectation of corporate standards/policies
  • Demonstrated knowledge and technical competence in the following:
  • Strong stakeholder management; the ability to develop inter-relationships with business units to ensure gap closure activities and continuous improvement plans are realistic and effective.


The following will be considered an asset:


  • Extensive operational and business process experience (operational excellence, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement)
  • Project management professional (PMP) certification
  • Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or other Safety certifications
