Your New Role


The Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing and supporting the Purchasing Team, as well as overseeing the company’s procurement requirements in accordance with company/regulatory policies and procedures.


As a Purchasing Manager, You Will


  • Identifies potential risks within the supply base, devise a plan, and leads the purchasing team to work to mitigate any negative impacts to Techform.
  • Manages high risk and difficult suppliers.
  • Diligently evaluates suppliers during the quotation phase to ensure quality, delivery, program management, and cost expectations are met throughout program life.
  • Develops, maintains, and enhances the elements of P.D.P
  • Leads and coordinates all aspects of purchasing and supplier development activities on behalf of Techform; including, but not limited to supplier suitability evaluation, requests for quotation, cost breakdown analysis, negotiations, supplier cost audits, contract reviews, and supplier selection which meets the budgets, policies, ethical standards, and audit requirements.
  • Leads team in supplier cost reduction initiatives to meet annual reduction targets.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Supports post-award supplier audits annually, or more frequently based on supplier performance with appropriate supplier performance improvement plans.
  • Establishes and maintains effective interdepartmental communication.
  • Reviews and executes legal documents (ex. NDA, Bailment Agreements).
  • Meet divisional overall Key Performance Indicators, as set out in the division’s plan.
  • Leads and supports the purchasing team in purchasing procedures and in the analysis prior to the supplier selection process to support business needs.
  • Oversees all Tool Crib functions
  • Completes layered audits to include safety, standardized work, housekeeping, 5S, and Quality inspection reports.


Safety Performance Requirements


  • Leads safety talks as required.
  • Corrects unsafe acts or conditions within the workplace
  • Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a Team Member and report any known contravention out of their control to the Steering Team
  • Corrects or commends health & safety performance

  • Conducts monthly safety inspections and implements corrective actions
  • Conducts accident / incident investigations implementing corrective actions

  • Ensure Team Members use or wear the protective equipment required by Techform and adhere to the requirements of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and the regulations

What You Will Need to Succeed


  • Demonstrated experience in new business launches and awarding long term supplier agreements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of MRO procurement functions, including the management of a Tool Crib, stock replenishment, and cycle counts.
  • Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs.
  • Knowledge and technical understanding of automotive processes, components, and supply chain management.
  • Eligible to travel outside of Canada with a required valid passport, as required.
  • Prior experience with supplier Advanced Product Quality Planning process.
  • Minimum five (5) years leadership experience in a purchasing function in automotive or related manufacturing industry.
  • Post-Secondary Degree in Business Administration/Engineering or Completed Certified Professional Purchasing (CPP) Accreditation.
  • Strong understanding of contract language.
  • Familiarity with ISO, AIAG standards, CTPAT etc.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Commodity knowledge of raw steel, tubes, aluminum extrusions, castings, sleeves, fasteners, stamping tooling, and assembly line equipment, considered an asset.
