Purchasing Clerk & Cashier Jobs

Within the context of a client service culture and in accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, works as a member of an integrated team and performs a variety of duties in support of the equipment/supply requirements within acute care environment. Completes on-line purchase requisitions for clinical personnel and liaises with vendors/Health Shared Services BC (HSSBC) to confirm product approval and availability as required. Physically receives and distributes goods and follows up with vendors and/or HSSBC to expedite purchase orders as needed. Liaises with vendors/HSSBC for pricing and quote information and for facilitating product demonstrations and evaluations if required. Updates computerized department inventory spreadsheets utilizing intermediate word processing and spreadsheet software packages and responds to a variety of enquiries in accordance Hospital standards. Processes payments for a variety of patient bills; Balances cash daily against receipts and prepares bank deposits and cash reports. Receives deposits on loan articles such as crutches; issues receipts and maintains loan records. Maintains and balances petty cash account.

Education & Experience

Grade 12 and two years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

Ability to keyboard at 45 w.p.m.

Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.

Ability to deal with others effectively.

Physical ability to carry out the duties of the job.

Ability to organize work.

Ability to operate related equipment.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
