Public Relations Manager - IoT
We are seeking a high energy professional to help develop and lead programs that advance awareness of and positive sentiment around BlackBerry’s IoT business unit that licenses software to customers in several markets, including automotive/transportation, healthcare and industrial automation.
As part of the Corporate Marketing function, you will partner with others on the team to support the launch of new products and services, and articulate the company’s product vision, leadership and roadmap to media and other influencers. As a manager in a fast-paced, evolving environment, you will liaise closely with cross-functional leaders and the company’s senior executives in order to develop and manage a comprehensive communications and thought leadership plan, manage reactive issues as they arise, and activate customers and influencers to help support BlackBerry’s IoT story.
What You Will Do
  • Help to manage and respond to stakeholder inquiries and breaking events.
  • Expand BlackBerry’s visibility among technology media, bloggers and influencers – with particular focus on broadcast media channels.
  • Liaise with other members of the global PR team to ensure consistent communications and processes .
  • Manage the awards and speaker’s bureau for BlackBerry’s IoT business unit, helping to identify and evaluate opportunities.
  • Communicate internally to promote the role of PR in building the BlackBerry brand, secure support from wider team members and engage leadership by demonstrating successes.
  • Increase positive awareness of BlackBerry’s leadership in IoT, automotive, transportation, healthcare, and other industries through PR activities and campaigns.
  • Educate key stakeholders on the company’s product vision and roadmap, comprehensive strategy, and industry-leading differentiated solutions – through media relations activities, executive bylines, speaking platforms and other activities.
  • Develop proactive communications with partners and customers to elevate the company’s reputation and leadership in target markets.
  • Work cross-organizationally, liaising with business units and support functions, as well as partners in product marketing, brand marketing, content, analyst relations, social media, and other key company functions .
  • Develop press releases, messaging and talking points, FAQs, bylines, reactive statements, and other key communications.
  • Work closely with PR agency to develop and execute PR campaigns within established budgets.
Who We Are Looking For
  • Some travel required.
  • Willingness to roll-up sleeves and get the job done, no matter how big or small.
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years in communications or public relations; recent/relevant experience in high-tech, automotive/transportation and/or software industries required.
  • Proven experience working well with senior executives.
  • Strong media skills and established relationships with technology, business and automotive/transportation media.
  • Knowledge of the automotive/transportation or embedded software industry a plus.
  • Proven experience in crisis communications and issues management.
  • Strong social/digital communications savvy and skills.
  • Collaborative, enthusiastic, positive outlook.
  • Stellar written and verbal communications skills and ability to distill complex technology and business information into clear, concise and compelling messaging.
  • Comfortable – and successful – working in a fast-paced, changing environment.
