Job Description
INVISTA(Canada), located in Kingston, Ontario is seeking a Process Controls Leader to join our dynamic engineering team, we are looking for some to lead our team into the future through innovation, employee development and progressive leadership. INVISTA’s Kingston site is one of the world’s largest producers of nylon 6,6 airbag fibre, produces a number of specialty nylon polymer products and has a large footprint of utilities equipment to supply the facility with necessary services to operate.


Our Team


You will be leading a group of 6-7 controls team members. This process control team is a group of highly skilled professionals who are responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems for industrial processes. You will also be part of the Kingston technical leadership team. This group of team leaders work together to lead 30 professionals in our process engineering and quality organization.


What You Will Do


As the Leader of the Site Process Controls Team, you will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with an aim to provide reliable and flexible DCS, PLC, data historian, automated material handling and network infrastructure while leading a technical team in process control advancement and process automation work.


  • Partner with site operations and technical leaders to support developing capability to maximize value from controls technology and process control applications like CPM, Dynamo and OSI PI.
  • Continually evaluate and develop talent base of the team against current and future site support needs and identify where training or hiring is needed.
  • Continue to execute and build upon the Kingston site process control vision for highly automated process control applications across all production units, simplified DCS and PLC platforms and single HMI network across the entire site.
  • Work with corporate security to advance, or remediate where necessary, control and data systems against network security and compliance expectations.
  • Mentor and develop team members in technical knowledge and skills, Principle Based Management® culture and leadership.
  • Partner with other INVISTA and KOCH process control and OT resources to understand advancements in other areas of the company. Take those learnings and develop opportunities for improvements for the site.


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)


  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, electrical, electronic engineering, or instrumentation Diploma with process controls specialization supplemented by related work experience.
  • Proficient in ABB DCS systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • At least three-five (3-5) years of experience in a similar role (DCS, PLC, instrumentation, automation)
  • Develop and contribute to a collaborative team-oriented environment.


What Will Put You Ahead


  • Experience in business case development and working in a large project work process is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience in process control automation and automated material handling is an advantage.
  • Experience leading a team or supervisory experience.
