We are currently looking for a PMO, General Business, based out of St. Thomas, ON

Our mission has started. Volkswagen Group’s largest cell factory in St. Thomas will carry out all battery activities – from processing raw materials to developing a unified Volkswagen battery to managing the European and North American gigafactories. Headquartered in Salzgitter, Germany, we are experiencing the transformation of mobility up close. Our goal is to contribute a positive impact to our global society, the environment and the economy. To reach these goals we need your POWER!


Temporarily reporting to the CFO, the ramp-up PMO is responsible for identifying and developing all initial ramp-up projects during the establishment phase of the new Battery Plant in Canada. The incumbent will collaborate directly with the company’s CEO and the strategy division of both, the VW Group Canada as well as PowerCo SE headquarters in Germany to manage, prioritize and organize all related projects


This role will be expected to organize, track, and report on the status and progress of the ramp-up phase within the company and at the board level. This role will also be expected to assist in identifying risks and driving solutions to keep the progress on track. This role is designed to require broad collaboration across multi-functional teams in the VW NAR structure across Canada and the USA to accomplish tasks and strategic goals as defined by the PowerCo SE Board and management of the new Canadian Entity.


**This is a flex hybrid model, requiring a minimum of 2 days in office**


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Managing the end-to-end process of all assigned projects, ensuring on-time delivery and meeting budgetary demands
  • Providing research and assistance to leadership in the development and design of new projects, including market research and competitive analysis
  • Performing other related duties as assigned or as they might pertain to the position
  • Creating and maintaining process workflow documents to support business needs
  • Maintaining communication with stakeholders and acting as a single point-of-contact for project status
  • Developing, maintaining, and managing detailed project plans, action item registers, and milestone timelines for all assigned projects
  • Performing quality control in all projects throughout their life cycles to ensure all standards are adhered to
  • Providing daily project updates to the Management Team
  • Managing project status and information, and communicating them through formal briefings, project update meetings, and/or written or electronic reports
  • Addressing problems through risk management and contingency planning, and presenting solutions and/or alternatives
  • Maintaining high-level knowledge of projects’ life cycle and portfolio
  • Collaborating with other PMO Team members in order to benefit from cross-functional project synergies
  • Using formal processes and tools to manage resources, tasks, and changes


Qualifications:

  • Overtime may be required to meet ramp-up deadlines
  • Excellent MS PowerPoint, Excel, Project, and PMO software skills
  • Ability to operate cross-functionally (vertically and horizontally) in a high-demand, rapidly shifting / fluid environment
  • Ability to coordinate and interact with all levels of customers (internal and external)
  • Exceptional ability to communicate and persuade through hierarchy levels
  • Highly effective at organizing and managing time and resources
  • Bachelor’s Degree in International Business, Organizational Leadership, Engineering or related fields, or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Occasional travel within Ontario, as well as internationally (~10%)
  • 3+ years consulting experience, or 5+ years of relevant project management experience
  • Project Management Certification is strongly desired
  • Ability to maintain flexible work hours to account for time zone differences with Europe, when necessary
  • Intuitive understanding of complex industry dynamics and multiple business functions
  • Strong analytical/strategic and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt to both team and individual working environments
  • Ability to multi-task and to determine and shift priorities


Desired Skills:

  • Website reporting strongly preferred
  • German language skills are considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics or similar
