Touchmark is Edmonton’s leading full-service retirement community, enriching the lives of residents and their families through five-star hospitality, services and amenities. We are currently seeking the right person to join our health and fitness team as a Certified Personal Trainer!
25 hours a week and on contract

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• At least five years’ experience working as a Certified Personal Trainer or Exercise Physiologist
• A bachelor’s degree in an exercise science-related discipline
• Have a commitment to Touchmark’s values (hospitality, compassion, excellence, teamwork, and integrity), as well as a desire to model these values and to encourage others to be allies, friends, and givers
• Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification, or be willing to obtain upon hire
• Experience instructing group exercise classes in the format their certification is in
• At least five years’ experience working with a mature population
• A positive, upbeat, and energetic approach to health, wellness, teamwork, and hospitality

EssentialJob Functions

• All classes to have a prepared outline, goals and objectives, schedules of offerings and be featured on the Life Enrichment calendar;
• Moderate to high physical demands in the following areas: standing, walking, grasping, reaching, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, and or pulling.
• Observe and enforce rules of the community and maintain professional and friendly manner;
• Cooperatively develop and collaborate with supervisor classes including Touchmark’s Values & Residents Rights;
• Room set-up and clean-up will be required prior to and after classes.
• Develop individual and/or group programs for residents.
• Report any incidents or accidents and complete necessary paperwork.
• Be an ambassador of wellness and fitness to staff, residents, visitors, guests and allied health professionals;
• Must be able to communicate in a clear and friendly manner with the public, read, write, speak, and understand English;
• Provide training and leadership in class formats and personal training protocols for Touchmark residents; (may include residents living in bungalows, independent living suites, assisted living apartments or Health Services Neighbourhood long term care);
• Update resident progress and communicate concerns to the Health and Fitness Manager;
• Must be able to follow all protocols for Universal Colour Codes (Disaster Planning);
