Job Summary & Key Responsibilities

Please note that although this is an online course, there is a 2-week in-person residency component that takes place in May. The instructor will be required to teach on campus during that time.

WORK ASSIGNMENT : The part-time academic will be responsible for teaching: SLWK 2334/2335 “Beginning Social Work Practice” Section 50 OR 51. This course will be offered in the Winter and Summer terms, from January to July, 2024. For a full course description, please refer to the Dalhousie Academic Calendar.

The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including preparing and delivering lectures and preparing and grading of assignments. Distance courses are taught using an online learning management system, Brightspace. Distance courses require on-line availability for consultation with students. In addition, the part-time academic should expect to be engaged in course preparations for one-two months preceding course delivery.

Qualifications/Requirements Of Position

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION : Extensive experience in social work (or related fields) is required. Solid knowledge of a variety of social work skills and the ability to impart these skills to students. A Master of Social Work degree, or higher, and previous teaching experience , preferably with online teaching.
