Who We Are
The Canadian Society for Information Children has been supporting families for over 40 years. Founded in 1978, we are a non-profit organisation and registered charity whose goal is to foster healthy child development by making information, guidance, and support accessible to all families regardless of socioeconomic status.
About this Role
The Parent Coach’s main role is to promote the organisation’s primary objective: Providing practical parenting information and support to families with young children, birth-12 years old. The Parent Coach participates in the overall coordination and implementation of our service by developing, evaluating, and participating in Information Children’s programs and practices. The Parent Coach works as part of a team that reports directly to the Board of Directors.
Key Activities
- Maintains agency database and provides pertinent statistical reports on the society’s deliverables for projects and grants, which include progress reports, annual reports, or other special reports and applications as required.
- Participates in service delivery, facilitation of workshops, individual presentations, Parent Helpline, parent 1:1 coaching, and other related activities.
- Participates in the communication of Information Children’s values and mission through the creative development and distribution of parenting pamphlets, parenting blogs, social media, and Information Children’s website.
- Serves as a liaison with community, and government agencies, particularly in relation to their advisory and financial support of Information Children.
Qualifications
BA or MA degree in a Social Science Field (such as Social Work, Family Studies, Child Development, Psychology, Counselling) and two years’ experience working directly with families as a Parent Coach and of program management/supervisory experience, or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
- Salary: Up to $35,000.00 per year
