Job Description
  • The Operations Lead will be support the Dry Starch Division, focusing on providing leadership for the team, delivering on department process operational targets, meeting safety, quality, production, cost and customer delivery goals.


Core Responsibilities


  • Anticipate customer needs and proactively create new solutions that exceed customer expectations
  • Coordinating with Maintenance to ensure that maintenance and reliability activities are carried out to meet the requirements of the department.
  • Monitoring process conditions and operational activities taking corrective action as needed to ensure operation of the process in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
  • Take ownership and operate with a sense of urgency to promptly respond and resolve problems.
  • Oversight and leadership of the Dry Starch operators and the department, motivating and engaging employees while promoting team building.
  • Challenge the status quo by offering ideas to make things better, faster and with value creation in mind
  • Respect and value others’ differences, seeking opportunities to learn from those with different perspectives.
  • Ongoing oversight and review of process documentation.
  • Set, prioritize and enable the achievement of ambitious goals through others.
  • Working with operators and peers to identify and deliver on production targets and improvement opportunities.
  • Assume personal responsibility for mistakes, act to correct them and learn from them.
  • Have the capacity to solve problems through creative, innovative solutions and challenge traditional methods of accomplishing tasks.
  • Optimization of production in compliance with product quality specifications and food safety requirements to meet production targets.
  • Build long-term relationships with key decision-makers and internal stakeholders.
  • Adapt and support others through change, ambiguity, uncertainty and complexity.
  • Leading, promotion and administration of Safety, Health, Environmental and Employment Standards, complying with corporate standards and regulatory requirements applicable to area of responsibility.
  • Take swift, decisive action and use organization resources in the best interest of the company
  • Tracking of historical data, analyzing and monitoring key efficiencies and parameters to optimize and troubleshoot processing issues while meeting cost and production goals.


Qualified Candidates Will Have


  • Ability to manage a dynamic manufacturing environment, interacting and communicating across functional lines and levels.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Post-Secondary education in engineering or technical discipline or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Ability to build consensus and foster positive relationships.
  • Decision making ability, planning and time-management skills.
  • Ability to train and coach others to improve performance.
  • Knowledge of Corn Refining operations and processes preferred, but not required.
