Title: On Job Training (OJT) Supervisor


Position Status: Non-Union


Rate of Pay: $26.32/hr (+2.5% RRSP)


Reporting to: CVIY Training Department and Responsive to Operations Department as assigned


Coordinating with: HQ Training and Operations, and current Site Supervisors and Managers as assigned


Location: CFB Esquimalt and as assigned within Greater Victoria Regional District (GVRD) and other Commissionaires Victoria, the Islands and Yukon (CVIY) sites


Shifts: 40 hours per week; Monday to Friday (shift schedule may vary)


Closing Date: 12 August 2022


POSITION SUMMARY:


Reporting to the CVIY Training Department and responsive to Operations Site Supervisors as assigned, the OJT Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and conducting the orientation and training of new Commissionaires (CMRE). In addition, the OJT Supervisor will act as a liaison between CMRE Headquarters and Department of National Defence (DND) sites supervisors. The OJT Supervisor will be expected to work a variety of shifts as needed to ensure the same quality of orientation and training is received by all DND Commissionaires and various sites as assigned. This position will also assist the training department with the development of new training initiatives and be responsible for providing group/classroom/online/video training as required.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Maintenance of the standard dress, deportment, and professional standard of conduct expected of all Commissionaires working at CVIY sites.
  • Place emphasis on the training of access control, ID checks, authorized access, proper documentation, use of notebooks and incident reports and other training as assigned.
  • In conjunction with CVIY training department, provide refresher training to existing team when not training new Commissionaires.
  • Act as the first point of contact for all new guards, introducing them to the working environment and culture at assigned sites.
  • Help new Personnel understand the importance of their job duties as it relates to the safety and security of CVIY field sites.
  • Prepare lesson plans and provide first line training for newly hired Commissionaires, covering all job specific duties and policies.
  • Provide training support and guidance within other areas of the Corps as assigned.
  • Implement and assist in the rollout and training of new technologies which augment the Commissionaire’s duties.


REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • Ability to effectively manage multiple and shifting priorities and reorganize workload as needed.
  • Ability to analyze information and provide recommendations.
  • Comfortable using and training others on new and emerging technologies.
  • Previous working experience at DND sites and knowledge of DND Policy and procedures an asset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to problem solve without direction from others.


QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:


  • Must have or willing to obtain a BC security worker's license.
  • Qualified Basic Security Course Instructor (BST)*
  • Experience in preparing and presenting lesson plans to a diversified work group.
  • (must either possess or be able to acquire the noted credentials)
  • Minimum two years experience with instructional technique/adult education or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • First Aid Instructor*
  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery of training to both individuals and groups.
  • Experience with online educational formats and platforms.
  • Experience in preparing statistical reports.
  • Experience in planning, organizing, coordination and monitoring training activities or programs.
  • The successful candidate will have or be able to attain a Level 2 security clearance and a DND 404 (Driver's License).
