Touchmark is Edmonton’s leading full-service retirement community, enriching the lives of residents and their families through five-star hospitality, services and amenities. We are currently seeking a Social Worker to join our Long Term Care Health Services Neighborhood.
As a Social Worker, you will have the opportunity to distinguish yourself by taking the time to be a positive presence, provide ongoing assessment of the resident needs and work with residents, families, and staff in promoting their psychosocial wellbeing.
This position is 18.75 hours per week.
Some Responsibilities Include, But Not Limited To

• Carry out social evaluations, including family dynamics, caregiver abilities, neglect or abuse and plans intervention based on evaluation findings;
• Provide information and referral services for patients and families/caregivers regarding practical and environmental needs;
• Participate in the development of the individualized plan of care, involving the patient and family, and attends regularly scheduled interdisciplinary group meetings
• Counsel patient and family/caregivers as needed regarding stress and other identified coping difficulties. Provides crisis intervention when necessary.
• Maintain clinical records on all patients referred to social work;
• Assess the psychosocial status of residents and families/caregivers related to the residents’ illness and environment. Communicates findings to the registered nurse and other members of the interdisciplinary group;

The Ideal Candidate Will

• Possess good stress management and crisis intervention abilities
• Have an active registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW)
• Possess a Bachelor of Social Work Degree
• Have a genuine interest in caring for elderly residents and working in a geriatric environment
• Experience working in a Long Term Care environment
• Be able to maintain patient and tactful composure when dealing with residents, family members, staff members and visitors

Final candidate for this position must produce a clear Police check
