INVITATION FOR PROPOSAL
MaRS Discovery District ("MaRS") is seeking a vendor that will provide the following "Services":
Momentum Biotech Program Lead
The Momentum Biotech Program Lead will work with the Momentum Program Director and other MaRS staff to create programming tailored to the needs of late-stage Canadian biotech companies. They will be responsible for:
  • Designing and delivering program components including peer-to-peers, educational sessions, networking events and more
  • Assessing needs of late stage Canadian biotech startups and where Momentum can add value
  • Assisting in recruiting additional biotech ventures and, as required, work with the Momentum Client Engagement Manager to support venture engagement
  • Leveraging their personal network to bring in relevant advisors, speakers, and community members
We are seeking an independent contractor who can work with Momentum on a part-time basis.
Key Qualifications
  • Leadership skills and demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders to achieve results
  • Knowledge of key challenges and opportunities for high-growth biotech companies, including raising capital, recruiting talent, preparing for clinical trials, strategic partnerships and more
  • Experience working with biotech ventures, particularly companies that have closed a Series A or B and are gearing up for clinical trials. Momentum works with companies that have raised at least $50M in capital.
  • Highly-developed organizational and process management skills
  • Superior interpersonal skills and demonstrated relationship management ability (collaborator and convenor)
  • Maturity and high-degree of personal accountability
  • Strong communication skills – oral, written and presentation skills
This is a 1 year contract, commencing on the effective date of the contract. There is an option to renew for an additional 2 years, in MaRS's discretion.

Responses received after this time will not be considered. Any questions should be submitted to the MaRS Contact by no later than Wednesday May 3, 2023 at 5:00pm (EST). Candidates who contact any other personnel of MaRS to receive information or ask questions regarding this invitation will be disqualified.
All candidates must submit a detailed resume and hourly rate to be considered. MaRS will consider a maximum of 5 pages per resume (i.e., MaRS will only read the first 5 pages and any materials beyond that limit will not be reviewed).
SELECTION CRITERIA
Candidates will be evaluated on the mandatory qualifications and preferred qualifications specified below, as well as interviews, if held in MaRS's discretion. The candidate that scores the highest in the applicable categories may be invited to enter into an agreement with MaRS. The candidate that offers the lowest price will not necessarily be selected.
Mandatory qualifications of the vendor include the following (Note: Candidates that do not satisfy the mandatory qualifications set out below will be disqualified):
  • Demonstrated experience working directly for or with biotech ventures that have closed a Series A or B and are gearing up for clinical trials.

MaRS may invite the highest scoring candidates after evaluation of mandatory qualifications and preferred qualifications for interviews. Interviews, if held, will be scored out of 20.
In the event of a tie score between candidates, MaRS will consider the candidate that scored highest under the experience criterion as the tie-breaker.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
This "Invitation" is provided in relation to a competitive bidding process initiated by MaRS to secure a selected candidate that will provide the above-mentioned Services. This is not a legally binding contract – however, if a candidate is selected, the matters the candidate submits as a response will be incorporated in the final contract. At all times, in its sole discretion, MaRS may determine (a) whether to terminate this process; (b) whether to proceed to engage a candidate; (c) if applicable, which candidate will receive an offer of engagement; and (d) if applicable, the terms under which the vendor will receive an offer of engagement. MaRS reserves the right to request any additional information that it deems necessary to clarify any portion of the response. By submitting this form, you agree to keep all information in this Invitation confidential per commercially reasonable standards. Any disputes related to this Invitation will be escalated for discussion and resolution by executives of MaRS and the candidate before any third party is engaged to resolve the dispute.
