Position Summary

As the Designer, you will play a key role in the design department, with a focus on the Menswear collection. This is a unique opportunity for a creative individual who is interested in a dynamic and collaborative work environment. You will be a valued team member within our Design department and will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the brand and embrace change as it grows and evolves.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product teams throughout development process to ensure style intention is achieved, and quality is up to standard
• Analyze performance and selling of owned styles and propose improvements for future seasons
• Maintain awareness of calendar deadlines and ensure key tasks are completed on time
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Work closely with the Senior Design Manager to design and create a collection that aligns to the OAK + FORT aesthetic
• Prepare and present owned styles in seasonal Proto meetings and Product Knowledge meetings
• Articulate design vision through sketches, technical and detail drawings
• Assist in presentation of vision, strategy and direction for each season
• Lead style development of your assigned product categories and styles
• Communicate style information to Technical Developers for successful prototyping
• Create and manage accurate Bill of Materials in PLM software to ensure fabrics, trims and colours are correctly captured
• Support in selecting materials and trims based on functionality, aesthetic, and trend
• Manage and organize samples, trims, headers and colour palettes as needed

Requirements

• Previous experience working at a start-up is an asset
• Understanding of the apparel development process from start to finish
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Excel
• Previous experience creating textile prints and patterns is an asset
• Extensive knowledge of patternmaking and fit solutions
• Awareness of current trends on runway and in the competitive landscape
• 5-8 years of experience as an apparel designer for a contemporary brand (experience in menswear is preferred)
• Degree or diploma in Apparel Design
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and quickly react to changing business needs
• Outstanding time management, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to execute in all product categories including Knit, Woven, Fully Fashioned and Outerwear
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Previous experience working in a PLM system is an asset
