Position Summary

Reports to the Chief Technologist and Section Charge Technologist, Performs laboratory procedures in


Transfusion Service, Core Analysis (Chemistry, Hematology), Urinalysis.


Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Evenings, Nights, 06:00 to 14:30, 07:30 to 16:00, 09:00 to 17:50, 14:30 to 23:00, 07:00 to 15:30 (Rotating)


New Wage: As of April 1, 2023, the new wage is: $35.18 - $43.91/hour


Dawson Creek & District Hospital is a 50-bed hospital that offers full service that includes inpatient care, emergency, respiratory, rehab, surgery, obstetrics & gynecology lab, medical imaging, and cancer care. The hospital is the northeastern BC orthopedic and trauma centre. Visiting specialists in urology, dermatology and pediatrics is also available.


Dawson Creek has a population of 12,178 (2021) with a youthful and vibrant community that serves as a major centre for the surrounding areas. Qualfications


  • Eligible for certification from the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Laboratory technology program; R.T. (General).


Skills And Abilities


  • Ability to sustain attention to accuracy and detail over extended periods.
  • Ability to keep abreast of technological developments in the field.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relations with patients, laboratory and hospital personnel and medical staff.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Communication skills.
